Where'd the hard 90-degree edges go? Schwalbe's new rounded tread blocks (shown on the left, front tire) are said to offer a better contact patch and braking characteristics on a wider variety of angles. The tire isn't always contacting the ground/rocks at the same angle, so adding a bit of an odd looking shape allows it to get some grip in different scenarios.
The front tire uses the softer TrailStar compound with wider lug spacing, while the rear uses the more durable PaceStar rubber compound. They'll be available in 29 and 27.5-inch diameters at 2.35-inches wide. Weights are 780g for the 29 and 740g for the 27.5.
