Novatec showed us their brand new Factor 23 series of carbon MTB wheels.

Made from high-compaction carbon reinforced with what Novatec call "Matrisilk Structural Reinforcement", the 23-mm internal width rims are laced to Novatec's high-engagement hub via standard J-bend spokes (for ease of serviceability and availability of spares). Extra long nipples extend inside the rim to give the spoke threads more grip. The hubs use standard bearings throughout, and you can get them with either steel or alloy axles and freehub bodies.

The wheelset is set up for tubeless out of the box, and weighs in at 1696-grams for a pair of 27.5 wheels. The hubs offer super-quick 4.25-degree engagement and Novatec's "Anti-Bite Guard" or ABG - a strip of steel used to keep the cassette from digging into the softer aluminum ribs of the main freehub body. Hubs are available in normal or Boost version.

Novatec has updated the graphics on its aluminum family of wheels, moving from the distinctive red to a more low-key black. All wheels feature Novatec's 4.25-degree engagement hubs with ABG, are tubeless ready and are adaptable to all axle standards.

The 23-mm internal width Alpine is a new, lightweight version of the Diablo. It weighs in at 1680-grams in 27.5", while the heavier duty Diablo tips the scale at 1860-grams. As for the Flow Trail, it has been updated to 21-mm internal width, and now weighs in at 1565-grams.

Alpine and Flow Trail retail for $799, while a pair of Diablos will set you back $829
