I am going to spell it out for everyone here that has less experience with Trolls.

Someone is purposefully saying silly things to rile you up, just ignore it. Do not reply. Not even a little bit. Just let the stupid comment die in the wind. Then it wont be fun for them anymore and maybe, if we are lucky, we can move on with our lives

Yeah pretty much.

You have a baseline setting and its tweaked for each track, and since they race the tracks each year pretty much they know a very solid starting setup (obviously conditions change that).

My point was more about how, from an engineering stand point Fox products use a lot more spring force for support than their competitors (Ohlins generally are the most damped products from stock, with Rockshox in the middle)

But once you get used to a setup, you just run that. You do major swaps between season (notice how most riders stick to the same frame for a whole season, and will do the prototypes at the beginning of a new one). You just want confidence so you can just focus on riding, and not think about things not gripping. If you stand track-side at a DH, its honestly insane the speed these guys go into things, you don't want any second doubt in your mind.

The average rider will improve their pace substantially more by getting stronger, than spending money on products (excluding new tyres). If you can squat more and bench/pushup/overhead press more, you can hit holes harder and support your weight better, you can drive harder out of compressions and just generally ride faster.

Strength is very overrated, unless you’re Sam Hill your talent will always hold you back. Chug some beers and grow something downstairs (ladies too) and you’ll...

Definitely not, however having a superior point of view from the herd is not one of them.

Did you slide off Pinkbike because you generally thought your opinions were above the users of PB and figured your Intelligence would be better appreciated over at vital?

I can't sort out why you came over here.

I agree that more damping, less spring is a better end solution. After getting a tuned Grip 2 I dropped 10psi from my setup.

I've got an Ohlins rear shock on one bike and a Manitou on another. Both are more heavily damped than the fox shocks they replaced.

The only downside to Ohlins rear shocks is the inability to do a basic air can service without fully opening the shock.

Attention. Dude is clearly one of those people who never mentally matured and constantly needs interaction with strangers on the internet, regardless of whether it's positive or not.

FFS, can we talk about some tech rumors?

I love my onyx hubs.
but that bearing placement on the new KOM makes me really really happy. It’s just pleasing to know. It would be like an emotional security blanket in my heart to install that hub on any bike I plan to ride for a while. Well done. I hope it takes off. Gets licensed and there is a silent version with soft but high degree engagement

how bout that tech forum huh?
we all new Scott was gonna do this. It doesn’t really help that they keep doing it.
I guess someone would do that eventually (put the guts inside the frame) but it’s nice to know that my local service centric shops are learning new tricks.
service centric shops always have the most jaded to capable ratios going. And twinloc nude bikes are still walking in the door keeping the lights on. Dyad shocks not so much.

Scott bikes have an extra 100$ time tax at this point every time one comes through the door for more than a quick adjustment.

Every new internal shock bike I've seen out in the wild also sound like a bag of metal blocks falling down the stairs when climbing.

Do pinions rattle at all?

I think rattle on a bike is worse than garbage breaks. I would (begrudgingly) accept headset routing if it absolutely guaranteed complete silence from all other components ….but I do like single speeds.   So maybe I’m an outlier

Wait… when climbing?

Maybe Im just really open to trying things but Id definitely try the Scotts. Except for the least innovative thing on them (headset routing) makes me not want them. Still do just a little. But not enough to get one.

One thing I am curious about is the service life for the shocks that are in frames. Obviously they are away from the elements. Big win. But they also have no ventilation as far as I know. But I dont know if the fluids on the inside are rated for way higher heats? Regardless Id love to see a really long term test on this.

Maybe Ill buy one and just drill some holes in my downtube and route it the way I want.

It sounded like every bearing on one bike were representing the Rice Krispy mascots. It looked pretty new so I was surprised. The lack internal housing routing is also terrible. You have to take the thing apart, It's required to do basic work. Other companies have solved this with internal sleeves so I have a hard time understanding why Scott when full stupid when they designed these bikes as "integrated designs" but didn't full integrate the routing to help manage the complexity.

What you should be concerned with are the trash RC CAR  bearings they use for all the pivots (yes, even the main pivots) once my bud saw his fancy bike in pieces waiting for the replacements (which you’d be relieved to know aren’t common bike sizes) and he realized how small they were…. He turned to the tech (who i had indeed just handed a beer and pre roll to- out of respect and sympathy)  and said: “sheesh, that’s why they didn’t last 3 months” ……

Excuse my Scott bikes rant. But if I may:

Just to be clear, when the cables are routed through the headset and past rhe internally mounted shock, and you want to find the blown bearing in the pivots, but you don’t want to take off the the whole rear end, you do indeed need to remove the ………………….

stem.

Or bar/stem combo. And brakes from the bars probably. But maybe not. Hopefully.

gotta love tech rumors tho.

better than a 38 tuning forum.
