Whats the story with the YT Mob. If every rider stays with them, that would mean they would be fielding a four man elite team, Guy, Oisin, Dak, and David. If they can't support such a big elite men's field, it's hard to imagine who would leave. Dak has only been with them a year, and would have been top 10 three times if not for his flat at Snowshoe 2. Oisin is clearly the real deal, winning a bunch of WCs in 2020 as well as World Champs, and while Guy hasn't had the best results, Martin Whitely has had a strong track record of developing riders in top talent (i.e Angel Suarez). I also can't imagine that after the Mob World Tour, they would up and drop someone after a few years. That leaves David Trummer, a solid top 20 talent, who came up through the non factory, YT team, and then got the bump a few years back. All of this is purely speculation, and is assuming that they aren't keeping everyone. Rant over

Dak had a good year but Trummer has had 2 even better ones with the team. He finished 13th overall this year and has been in the top 5 in a few races. I don't think they'll be looking to cut him loose!
Bit late to the Tinker chat but it seems like he was expecting more of a pension than a salary. I know the guy’s done a lot for the sport but seriously my gran has a better Instagram page. Would not want that page to be representing my brand in any way. It’s a shame because all it would take is for Cannondale to pay for a decent phone and some basic social media training and I’m sure they could market the shit out of him.
Heard on the other site that Zink is going to actually have a ride in '22. Anyone know anything?
He said he was developing his own brand but keeping it on the back burner. All I know is he threw some shade both at Yt and Aaron Gwin in his Pinkbike interview, saying that with the bike he is riding, AG won more races with than the current Tues. He doesn’t really seem to have left YT in good terms but who knows…

I mean, YT yanked his distribution from him, so I’d be pretty bitter too.
I have a feeling Zink had a deal with Transition for 2021 BUT his Insta Post from earlier this year we he had to make an apology nixed the deal. Transition employee made a goodbye post right after Zinks post.
He had been the US importer/distributor for YT a few years ago.
Post from 2017:
Thanks to an Instagram story posted by Cam Zink reading "Official last day as YT USA," it appears that he will no longer be involved in YT Industries' USA operations.
Cam has been involved in the business since early 2015. Whether this means that another company will be taking over operations, YT is planning on running warehousing and distribution themselves, or something else entirely remains to be seen. Will we see Zink aboard a new bike in 2018?

What do you mean? A Transition employee quit/was fired after Zink was forced to apologize?

Cam posted something along the lines of saying “don’t be a f#^^%t” and kinda doubled down on it. Than a Transition employee said “Goodbye & good luck “ in his post. No transition employee was fired. Kinda think Cam lost his ride cause of the post before it even started.
I had to laugh when Zink is going on about Geometry, kinematics, starts ripping on Gwin and how he's building custom frames in Taiwan etc etc (ok mate whatever)
15 seconds later, the presenter asks him about his rear shock and he doesn't know how much pressure is in it or clickers etc, "but it has a custom tune...."

Looks like Zinc is not the easiest rider in connection with business. The whole story makes him unsympathetic in that respect (also for sponsors). It's funny that he still doesn't have a new sponsor.

No wonder he does not have a new sponsor given the fact the he goes on about how the new bikes of his previous sponsor are worse than the old ones :D
Now, I wonder if that's the project he talked about putting on the back burner since he lined up something else or is that a cover up kind of story.. Unless something new came up since he had the helmet done...

This was my initial thought of what it was. If he was planning on doing his own thing not sure why he would put that on hold to help someone else on the ground floor. Unless they have really deep pockets I guess.

He did mention a good deal from a known company and starting a company from scratch is a long process..
Contract renewal or a a move for Evan? There's space for him on the Orbea team with Oton retiring, but they may have another big name lined up, and they're sponsoring the academy again this season so they may need a slot for that.

You'd hope that it would be a renewal. Expecting someone to come on and make any better of an impression than he did as a first year rider is almost impossible. For him to roll in and get a top 15 and at least one other top 30 on a shortened season like his is better than they could have hoped for. If that is Orbea's approach to just bring on the academy winner and not re-up them the next year its a bit of a raw deal for them since they are just paying to develop a rider and then see them ship off to a competing team after they have gotten their feet wet.
I would imagine the payoff for Orbea is having their name plastered across however many episodes of a Pinkbike reality TV show, not on what the winner does the following year. That's probably just the thing they have to promise to secure the sponsorship. I mean...did anybody really expect anything real to come out of that whole thing? Results are just a nice little bonus. Still, if they can get him for another year for a similar dollar commitment, it's probably worth it for them.
Though, speaking to the salary point up above, it would be interesting to understand the hidden cost of having a rider on. The salary portion is obvious, but I wonder what it costs to keep a racer racing for a year? In this case, it could easily dwarf the salary of the rider, and make the investment less obvious for Orbea.
Also makes sense that Tinkers contract was cut now as well

I am paraphrasing but close
