leaking info you've been trusted with is lame IMO.
if a brand blows it and doesn't hide their stuff only to get sniped by someone, game on.

big difference to me.
Ok, thanks! These are fair guidelines.
Just to be clear: I'm not affiliated with Specialized or any of their subsidiaries and it's not information I've been trusted with. I definitley only got it because someone at a third party screwed up. But then again, the info still wasn't exactly "out in the open" so to speak. So it's probably best not to treat it as fair game.
You can see what I assume is the new Stumpy in Charlie Murrays recent youtube video while he's interviewing Richie at about the 9:30 mark

Now we’re talking! Push this a little farther and we can call the one good, strong kickstart a pedal stroke and give me a few thousand seconds of ‘carryover’. That’ll getcha up the local hill :D

Post away. This is a "Rumors" thread after all and your information should be taken with a grain of salt. It's not like you are leaking the company's quarterly earnings.
It would be fun to see how similar these "rumored" numbers are to the Levo SL gen2.

I have an unreleased 140/150mm bike in the shop that comes stock with a Fox 36 and Mavens type build kit with a completely new inline fox shock with the bike manufacturers logo on it and a HUGE air can. It's very strange to see an inline shock on a build like this so I'm interested in whats going on with it. Apparently next week we'll know.
It kind of looks like an RP23 with a high volume air can but 1.5x the size

Mavens eh? Sounds like sram is running away from Codes as quick as possible.

I think the shock was also hinted at in the most recent podcast between specialized and PB. Really curious about how it performs and pretty cool to see a frame manufacturer working in tandem with a company like Fox to push innovation in a meaningful way (beyond electronic gnomes spinning compression dials).

If it is the SJ, I wonder if it’s the S-Works spec? Mavens and a proprietary shock doesn’t sound particularly entry level or even mid spec range. I hope I’m wrong though! If it is the S-works, hopefully you don’t have to have perfect teeth to afford it…

Like Fox Brain or Reaktiv? Not really excited for a bike coming with a special shock. The past shown it was never a way to go. What a bummer if true.

Bigger companies working with proprietary shocks is historically not awesome.

Vitus specified inline shocks on its most recent Escarpe, which developed 140 mm from a 65 mm stroke. By many accounts it worked pretty well because of the unusually low average leverage rate. Similar situation?

Doesn't have to be S tier build to have proprietary suspension. Take the Trek Supercaliber or Specialized Epic WC for example. They just omit the kashima coating and fancy components on cheaper builds.
Regardless, less stoked to hear that Specialized might be going back to proprietary suspension. It is highly unlikely that Fox is releasing another shock in their newly revised lineup (Float SL, Float, Float X). It sounds like this new stumpy would be using a modified version of the new Float.

you mean like what cannondale did with fox on their dyad pull shocks and what scott is doing for years (also with fox) on their nude shocks? how did that turn out?
those shocks were/are hot garbage compared to normal shocks.

maybe they're trying to have a strong enough shock that doesn't fail with the yoke, considering what happened when they put their hands into a shock ( autosag ) it's gonna be a hot piece of shit most likely
I got a Float X with the Gemini air sleeve that Cannondale used for a while for my Bird. A remote controls a valve between the main chamber and the sleeve.
Could be that my bike was just too progressive even for the full volume as the difference was pretty negligable so I just put a standard HV air can on it.

First time i hear or read about a 6-pot Saint - must have missed it here! Doubt it as all others keep making 4-pots with immense power - a 6-potter will be quite heavy compared to others!
leaking info you've been trusted with is lame IMO.

Wait, what? Bike Mag is back? I had no idea...
Last I saw of them was a website full of disappointingly generic ai-generated content.

Fair play to Specialized for keeping it out of sight so well
