I'm not a professional/talented rider or anyone special by any means, but I am one of the people who was invited to the launch and ended up leaving with a Podium Gold fork. Nothing on my bike matches anymore and it looks hilariously bad with all of the random colors on it, but I don't even care; function over fashion.

I am EXTREMELY grateful that I was even given the opportunity to go to Scotts Valley to check out all of the impressive new and upcoming products from Fox, Race Face and Marzocchi, and take home some cool new products that I am happily putting to use. It's exciting to swap out some of my favorite parts that I've been riding for almost a couple of years now with well-thought out new products that perform differently, while simultaneously freshening up my enduro bike right before bike park season here in California.

Because of my specific job and the department that I work in, I've been able to see and learn about a ton of really cool new products from a ton of different companies well in advance and it always makes me laugh to read all of the absurdly negative comments from people who have never even seen some of this stuff in person or have any idea how much thought, time and effort that the companies have put into research and development before they're released. If I were an engineer for any bike-related company, I'd probably never visit any sort of forum or comment section solely to maintain sanity.

No one’s being absurdly negative about the fork matey. Just the colour. And no one needs to be EXTREMELY privileged (sic - work in the industry at a shop/dealer) to see that colour. It’s right there in all of the images we’ve been bombarded with.

Colour isn’t anything to get upset about as we can buy the same fork in the other colours and slap some aftermarket decals on it to tone it down or up to our liking. Just like the orange we discussed several pages back.

i think we had 14 new bikes/products go live on the homepage yesterday and the week isn't over yet. not sure why that whole "launch on tuesday" thing is so real.

Well... Tuesdays are usually the most efficient day to launch a product, most emails are opened/read on that day.

Mondays are busy days @work and emailboxes are full of crap you'd get through the weekend, so usually the boxes are cleared on tuesdays mornings or so.

And launching this kind of product on any other day might be too deep in the week: doing it on tuesday means you let 4 full days for the product to ke aknowledged by your community, just before the weekend where they would talk about the new shit on social rides.

(OR this is just about email opening statistics and I'm overthinking)

Take it for what it is - FOX Shox 50th anniversary appears to have occurred right as everyone agreed on a hue of Gold Lacquer for a new fork.  ...the 60th Anniversary - everyone right now is said to have one Diamond Bedazzled Hose Anchor - subtlety in leu of recent feedback on the internet this week.

FOX Shox sincerely apologizes about their 50 years of creating products while the internet flourishes... I'd guess.

Guarantee product managers/marketers who launched this Tuesday (trying to get the sea otter jump) regret it. It was overload and I’m surprised there wasn’t more coordination with media to prevent it. (I work in a marketing adjacent field and had a campaign launch the week prior, a bit over sensitized w/ launch dates).

Maybe analytics prove me wrong, but on Monday I’m already trying to escape work with bike distractions. Non-bike inbox stuff I mass delete.

just curious - was there a raffle/giveaway for the fork, or were they available for purchase to the attendees?

also, the comment about the fork matching the cat gets my vote for comment of the year.

All of the product that we received was provided to each of us at the event, there was an entire classroom-sized group of us from all around the world so nothing about this launch was inexpensive for them. We weren't asked to give any glowing reviews of anything or told what to (or not to) say, they were extremely open and honest about every question thrown at them and gave us the opportunity to ride at different places each day of presentations then asked us to try everything at our regular riding spots back home to really notice the difference in performance/ride feel.

From 'another' site. Max's Cannondale Dave has a revised looking Bomber DJ .... new air cap and Damper adjuster. Very different decals and Gloss CSU and Lowers. Current bomber DJ's are on a mega sale .... Makes me think Marzocchi is getting more hand-me-down tech from Fox, since it's seems like Fox is refreshing their damper/(forks?) range ....

Maybe Marzocchi will be getting a refresh across the board around the same time and maybe the Marzocchi Super Z (38mm) will be released at the same time.

Speaking of the new Super Z ....

Is that really the weight!?? (Starting weight of 2180grams apparently) .... if so that would be awesome to have something that looks so sick, also not be as flippen heavy as the ZEB or Fox38 ....

*EDIT. Other site info from "The Lost Co" comment: lighter+different spring plus the obvious GripX make it lighter by 200g compared to a fox38 .... makes a nice option.

Lower weight means better maneuverability (during air time especially) btw ....

This could be awesome, I wonder if it’ll have the adjustability of their other bikes, and I wonder if the rear travel will change? 140 rear travel although a small change would make it an even more capable all rounder.

seems to be the case.  shorts are allowed but require knee and shin gaurds.  interesting that jerseys must be tight fitting or tucked in.

I see the pants rule was modified at the start of last year. I wonder how it was worded when Johannes Von Klebelsberg (AKA The Denim Destroyer) was racing?

They could have just left out the part about the tight fit as Dudes like Bruni, Iles, Goldstone and Greenland basically have the aerodynamics of a roadie

“Tacky” isn’t just for dirt anymore. The gold on gold is objectively bad. That the dampers fit existing forks is great—an admittedly low bar but that’s what mtb manufacturers have done to us. I’ll put one in a fork and pretend I can tell what’s going on for sure. But if it were only offered in the gold/gold, I’d be rattle canning that thing immediately. No more needs to be said.

I am honestly surprised the dampers fit existing forks. That has not been the way with fox as of late.

i have a Raaw Madonna frame on its way to me currently and needed a fork for it. I knew fox and RS both have new dampers on the way and I actually went ZEB for this exact reason. Assuming i wouldn’t be able to swap a new damper in the 38, and would be able to on the zeb. Oh well. We’ll see how the new RS damper is soon enough.

Huh ?

Fox forks are actually pretty exemplary as far as backwards compatibility of dampers go.  I have a what is now a 3 generations old RC2 damper in a '23 36 chassis for example.

That's odd, I only see the 27.5x2.5 before clicking the box. When the drop down opens though, no listing. I'm on mobile using Chrome.
