Giant engineers laughing all the way to the bank. Have any of them put a pen to paper since 2014?
Just slacken the head angle and adjust reach and stack and lower standover, its all anyone else is doing really. The suspension platform is solid, it doesn't need to change, just like all the horst link bikes out there.
I think he means that the bikes haven't really changed design wise since 2014, which is not true. They have kept the same suspension platform, which has been tweaked with every iteration, they have reworked the front & rear triangle and changed the angles with every iteration as well. You could pretty much argue that Yeti and Sant Cruz have done much the same, bar some frame storage bs and tube in tube cable routing...
Having XX/XO 'SL' groupsets does make sense to differentiate the XC from Enduro crowd. Last (current) gen AXS was marketed as XX1 for XC and XO1 for Enduro because of weight/materials. With an SL in the lineup they can have a 'full strength' offering and another with parts switched to carbon/hollowpin/drillium so all top riders are on XX regardless of discipline.
Also re: AXS clutch strength, SRAM has stated that the clutch is the same between AXS and wired groupsets. Likely the difference comes from additional resistance provided by the cable.
few rows down, it says: Setup Cog for fool-proof set up. Utilizes well accepted and broadly available XD driverbody.
So I would think it`s still old...

Ah missed that, thanks.
So what would be the purpose of a set up cog? Since the existing eagle cassette really couldn’t be any easier to install.

Yeah, I totally agree.
Of course the Maestro platform still there a long time ago, is the identity of Giant full suspension range. It works pretty good, and has improved and dialed specifically for each new model and discipline.
BTW, I understand there are people who like to see big changes for every new model.
There are brands that change everything every few years, and there are other brands that keep the identity/image for a long time and all the models are quite "similar". If something works, don't touch it.
No one is better way, just a different philosophy.
Any thoughts - guesses? - on which of the new AXS components could be interchangeable with existing AXS?
I’m assuming the new derailleur, cassette and chain will all be needed and for now the new crank. But at some point I’d think Wolf Tooth and others will make a chainring that works with current DUB cranks.
And could, say, you just buy the new controller to work with existing AXS? Would it pair?

The suspension platform might be the same, but probably anti-squat, anti-rise, axle path have been modified. Pretty sure they need to, cause the geo change would put the rider in a different position, also slackening the HA would make the bike more aggressive - another reason to modify it. When you put everything together, it might be a whole new, different bike compared to the previous one, performance-wise. And the looks? Might be close, but the new proportions and small changes in tubing here and there make it look faaar better!

It appears that the only thing interchangeable would be the XX1 Quarq Dub SL cranks since they use 8 bolt mount. If SRAM doesn't release a 104 BCD T-Type chainring for the Quarq spider then like you said Wolf Tooth or Garbaruk will.
As for the controllers, the whole point of AXS is to have cross compatibility between the different products in that lineup. Drop bar shifters, old Eagle AXS shifter and the new one should all coexist.
Hopefully new axs derailleur is going to work on Shimano Cassette/chain. Frankenstein drivetrain has been bullet proof for me. Also hope they fix the weak clutch. Only gripe I have is the clutch

On the face of it, the only thing that could prevent that is the pullies might be flat top chain specific. If that's the case then old (current gen) pullies probably fit in. Or an aftermarket company might make pullies for this if that's not possible.
Quote at the bottom of the Richie video: “IT’S BEEN HUMBLING SEEING YETI WORK HARD TO BRING A DH RACE BIKE TO LIFE WITHOUT COMPROMISE. AFTER LEAVING THE SPORT ALMOST TEN YEARS AGO IT’S EXCITING TO GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED WITH ANOTHER YETI SPECIAL PROJECT. RACING ENDURO OVER THE PAST DECADE HAS BEEN REALLY FULFILLING, BUT I AM EAGER TO EXPLORE DH AGAIN. I WANT TO PUSH MYSELF AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND GET IN TUNE WITH THAT DH MENTALITY AGAIN AND IDEALLY BRING THOSE BENEFITS OVER TO ENDURO. WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT, I JUST WANT TO GET ON A DH BIKE AGAIN AND HAVE SOME FUN.”
Looks like he will step into a few races on the new rig.
you all are the tech gurus, so enlighten me. this proto looks pretty high pivot. aren't most riders/brands settling in on mid-pivot after a few years of high-pivot stuff? or am i mistaken?

It’s not THAT high is it? Looks similar to a Norco Shore or GT DH bike. I suspect it’s a Horst link, can kinda see a pivot on the chainstay?
What surprises me most is that Yeti would go with this design? They have their 6bar e-bike platform and their switch infinity designs, so why not stay with the brand identity instead of following the mainstream?

Is a new freehub driver coming? From the cassette page:
Featuring a clearly marked Setup Cog, install is both simple and fool-proof.

The setup cog is #7 with the red carrier where “b tension” is set

Saw that too. Finallly!
Makes we wonder if they do a rebranding, considering the changed logodesign. They also had a frame with the "classic" brandname there. So, what up GT?
The new air shock?
that artwork gives me totem-vibes.
It's a shock version of the totem. Called the scrotem. I'm guessing it'll be extra supple and sensitive.

is it really possible…
yeti back in the dh-game?!

now THAT would be news!
But: Richie is scheduled to tackle the EWS podiums, isn't he? Who would pilot their bikes?
(I know, that's rather a question for the team rumours thread, but I feel to make sense of a DH bike they'd have to race it?)
yeti back to the business, hell yeah!
Haha damn I just came here to drop the news on Yeti DH bike but clearly the boys are on top of things in here
looks to be hi pivot
Carbon is bold. Seems like a lot of brands are moving to Al or lugged for DH race bikes. Super exciting tho!

richie rude yeti DH video embedded. the new bike shredding starts at 13:30 or so
i know the BC woods are dark, but dang! ENHANCE PROTO YETI DH BIKE

looking at the GT, you're right, same ballpark...thanks for clarification. also curious as to why a "non yeti" platform.
