Wait what? "...Felix Griffiths also signed, apparently the parents paid 75k"
…the money is out there…
with F1 as their template, this will be much more common going forward…that the teams own the points is insane (is that confirmed yet?), and bad news for riders. Sure things only. And nothing’s surer than some money up front. Gnarly!

Can finally talk about it publicly Asa on Red Bull 🙌🏽

Wow, how early did Jackson get his? Was he also 17 or 18 by that point?
That's a quick jumpstart to a promising career. 'if ur gonna continue to ride like that... we'd prefer u do it in our helmet' i was barely doin jack shit when i was 17 lol
daddy paying 75k so that the boy can brag to be on the syndicate… did i get that right???!!don‘t get me wrong, pretty sure he‘s worlds...

don‘t get me wrong, pretty sure he‘s worlds faster than most (never heard of him), but that‘s kinda embarrassing IMO.
but if practices like that are the future for teams to stock up their budget it‘s gonna be dark for the talents with not so deep pockets
Well, they wanted to make DH the F1 of mountain biking. 😪
Maybe he'll be awesome and make me eat my words, but personally I'd find it hard to root for someone knowing daddy bought their spot on the team, rather than raw talent getting them there.

Nailed it!
In relation to Griffiths on Syndicate. It's been quite common for teams to have junior racers pay to be on the team over the past 5-10 years. But not to the tune of 75k. More so between 7-15k per season. To cover travel and costs etc..

"raw talent" does not get anyone anywhere. There's actually not much difference between parents spending thousands bringing their kids racing and paying a team (who have the infrastructure and expertise already) to do it.
So many parents spend so much funding the continued development of potential careers. To think Jackson Goldstone, Asa or the Alran bros got to their level on 'talent' alone is fairly naive

Not wrong here, pretty much all juniors on teams that aren’t in the top 5 consistently every weekend are probably paying to be on those teams. Not quite to this extent but maybe around the 20-30k mark. I think any dad that has the money to do this for their son would do it anyway, it probably costs around a good 10-20k to do a privateer season anyway.
Even the most talented riders will have their parents paying a lot of money to get to races to develop the skills and get the results that get them noticed. I would guess mpst of the top level juniors didn't have to buy a ride. But, for others, some upfront money to a team to make sure you have some support at the races isn't a bad deal. I'm guessing with the new WBD rules for teams, some bigger teams might find a spot for a person for the right amount of money as some of the smaller teams might not be a viable option moving forward..

This happens in car racing, motocross and supercross also.
If you add up the travel costs to 10 races, bikes(practice, race, trainers), pit setup, coaching, gym, gear, ect. It’s not far off, we also don’t know if it’s a multi year deal…
With the state of the industry, I’m sure teams will take what they can get!

It is common. But you usually can’t buy your way onto the most prestigious team in the sport for 5 figures. Can’t really blame the syndicate. But certainly is just another example of how the sport is changing for the worse.
Wish the kid nothing but luck. Cause oh man is that a lot of pressure.
If true, $75k doesn’t seem like enough honestly? 10 races this year, basically have to pay for months of lodging between races. Mechanic and other support. Team camps. Larger fees for teams next year…… to be on one of the best teams in the sport, kinda seems like a deal.

So many people in here are making the assumption that the syndicate would not sign Felix without money changing hands. That's not the case though. The kid is fast and has promise judging by results to date. And we are just taking some anonymous guys word for it on a forum 🤣.
The point is that "paid for" rides at WC DH are nothing new. It's been happening for a fair while and isn't a symptom of the industry turndown or Warner bro.
Be interesting though to see how things go in the future if it becomes more common place. Or if we keep very effective low budget teams like The Union.

There mom is a pretty big time tv personality
Gillian anderson
Phoebe Gale’s mechanic showing an Orbea ebike on his insta story, supports rumours of FMD —> Orbea
Who's mom is Gillian Anderson?
Felix Griffith's
He's riding Orbea bikes for long time...
Well he got first in nationals so must have some race craft.
The truth is out there

Devinci has a Wilson proto being raced in Canada under someone. Forget who it was but I did see it, and the bike looked impressive.

It's thiccjibs on Instagram. Believe they said they have no plans on making it into a real bike though
