It's thiccjibs on Instagram. Believe they said they have no plans on making it into a real bike though
It's probably the same frame Unior Sinter riders raced last season they were on Devinci. Dak rode it. It might be slightly different geometry wise but it looks exactly the same. The first proto was ridden at WCs in 2020, probably the reason why it's still a full 29er. Photo is from PB's article https://www.pinkbike.com/news/bike-check-jack-pellands-prototype-devinc…

If you add up the travel costs to 10 races, bikes(practice, race, trainers), pit setup, coaching, gym, gear, ect. It’s not far off, we also don’t know if it’s a multi year deal…
With the state of the industry, I’m sure teams will take what they can get!
I was going to say: It sounds like the cost of going to the most intense bike racing college.
A year early in their career with trainers, nutritionists, medical, bikes, travel, exposure, an opportunity to race in front of the most eyes and the most important eyes? It could be worth way more than $75k to someone who's all-in on the idea of being involved in racing with intention to be involved long-term.
If Felix (or anyone) spends that one bought-on season taking good notes on the advice given to them and others by medical/nutrition/psych/technical staff, starts a YouTube channel, gets really active on social media, and grows it; they could potentially be out of the red and turning a profit in a couple years. Plus the eyes they've gathered will earn sponsorships...and that's without even considering how they actually do at the races.
Do I think it's a great idea? Not necessarily for me. I'm a little slow to jump off a cliff - financial or otherwise - but someone with an X-Files-shaped parachute can afford to take a financial risk I'm not willing to take.

Nick who has Downamics has been managing and wrenching for Heather Wilson this year is supposed to be a real suspension wizard. He has been testing a Gamux for a while... Just a thought, no insight
Tom Pidcock off Ineos apparently... lots of rumours swirling in the road world, he was pulled off their roster for Il Lombardia at the last second and made an IG post basically saying it was the team pulling him despite being in top shape.
Also $75k for an 11 race World Cup/World Champs season is not much, surely the actual fully costed rider $ is more than that.

Is Reece getting the funding from Lotus? He is posting a LOT about his car(s), and the company. Would be an interesting tie-up.
That would actually be plausible. Lotus produces (or at least was producing in the first place) the carbon parts for Hope, so there might be something to look at.
Hopefully (wink wink) there may be a technical connection between Gamux and Lotus for carbon too... well, probably coulnd't afford a 10th of the resulting piece of art, but still a potential drooler.
$75k I guess gets him entry to 10 WC races, transportation and accomodation at them, (plus IXS, British nationals too?) along with a V10 (and probably a Nomad to play on aswell) and all the wheels and tyres he can break. What's that worth on its own?
Thats what he'd have to pay for anyway doing it the privateer route, plus he's also gonna get a mechanic, physio and training, fox support; plus its a way to grow his socials following. And remember he's still a minor so it's not like he could drive himself around europe sleeping in a shitty van; so thats something else his parents would have to do themselves or pay out for.

Exactly, it's pretty cringey that a bunch of grown-ass men are dragging this kid on the internet just because an anonymous rumor says his parents are kicking in some cash to give him a chance to chase his dream. The kid obviously has some talent and happens to have parents with higher than average means. How is this different than sending your kid to an elite ski academy?
Reece on Gamux is exciting - gonna get that $100k!

One of the most important things in rich people hobbies is having even richer people to get mad at. You and I, we spent what we had to…a dollar more is way too much!
And truly: imagine not helping your child pursue their dreams. “Well yeah she loves it, but who gives a shit! We’re going to make her stay home watch the kitchen remodel.”
Question: how many people have retired from DH in the black? I’m guessing hmm zero

and I think of critical consideration is the fact that off road endurance cycling (marathon more so maybe) is actually really popular in Brazil, especially further south in the country. So the motivation to host events and the finance needed is much easier to come by 'cos national/local sponsors can see a direct return on investment. The same can't be said for DH in Crazil, but we certainly do need a Dh World Cup in Chile or Argentina.

One of the best and worst things about mountain biking is the people. I completely agree with you @owl-x. It’s amazing you have more dislikes than likes on this comment and all your saying is the truth. Some factions of cycling are so far up their own ass the can’t see their own hypocrisy.
It was either on the Gravity CoOp podcast or Vital podcast but one of the coaches who runs a Devo team (gravity academy maybe?) threw out that some parents are completely down with dishing out 30k for their kids to get to do a World Cup season. So yeah. This is pretty common practice. Every XC devo team (including Bear which is probably the most successful in America) have club dues that are pretty high.
I also suspect that a lot of the teams are set up (not to use a loaded example) like pyramid schemes. The younger, less talented riders are paying dues that go toward funding the racing of the more talented kids who are bringing in the results.
Somewhere in the last 20 years readers here lost track of the sport's trajectory. We are firmly in upper-middle class sporting territory. Being a young sport ( Performance MTB ) many of us came from various socioeconomic backgrounds to make it happen in the 90s but now that landscape is quite different. I would argue we almost surpassed skiing as the well-to-do hobby for people with money to spend.

I generally agree, however winter sports are incredibly expensive where I am and it's mostly money you never see again. Resort accommodation or transport, lift passes (which exceed $200/day!) etc. At least when you spend $5-10k on a bike you have an object you can hold on to for as long as you like, and can ride it whenever and wherever you like!

Tires run almost $150 each plus sealant, cassette can be 500, chains and chainrings $100 each, bearings and maintenance, brake pads, grips. Then there’s gear that gets abused. Warm, cold and rain gear, lights etc. Gas for getting to spots or shuttling, and lift tickets, which are steadily increasing. That’s just for riding not racing. Yeah man, Colombia would be very very cool. But the organizational structure is LOOSE!! Living in a country where we have to travel to ski/snowboard if I break it down to participation hours biking is way cheaper than winter sport holidays. I'd be budgeting £1000 per week for a trip to the Alps.

Here is my vision on the 2025 teams (be careful with riders changing teams, this will change a lot !) :
Red ones are stopping or rumoured to be stopping
Green ones are becoming top 15
Yellow ones would be the five wild cards
Orange ones would like a spot too
Blue ones will go to continental series ?
Okay I get blue and red. But am I the only one having no idea which is green, yellow or orange?? (yes, I do have a touch of color blindness...)
It's clear on my laptop screen... might be more than just a touch of colour blindness, or maybe your screen isn't colour calibrated?
Anyway from top to bottom: 2 greens, five yellows then orange arrows.
