I  assume we'll see a bigger blitz of juniors in 2024. Groms on contract coming out the woodwork?

Sorry boys, even with Stinky Pinky moving up it's going to be another USA domination in Jr Mens DH. Evil

A couple of weeks ago there was a rumor reading something like: "a former young talent and now established racer back to the roots" - a lot where linking it to Loris Vergier. Now after Valis interviews it might just be Vali going back to YT

They pretty much said that on the Making Up the Numbers pod.

So are YT going back to a full factory program? Fresh winner O Callaghan plus Höll could be a great start.

I wonder if this means YT has a new DH bike coming along as well. New big bike with new big rider coming into the team.

Will be interesting seeing her dynamic in the moi moi TV videos next year if she joins the Mob.

Assuming Moi Moi is on the mob again. They have a sizable EDR team, and EDR is contracting rapidly it seems...

Money better spent would be on the DH side with some Jrs and Vali to race with O-Shin. They can't be paying Sian much, so keep her as well. Way better coverage than EDR, especially if there is a new DH bike in the works.

Anybody notice on Moi Moi TV, he didn't know what the GPS box on Oisin's frame was.
He's been at virtually every World Cup DH all year & never noticed it.

I think they are using it for the on screen displays and the semi live speed that is being displayed.

Is it insane to anyone that Discovery/ESO hasn't figured out how to show the leader's split time stacked w/ the split up or down of the racer on screen?
Let alone indicate which rider is in the gate (Qualified 11th). I constantly have to go to the qualifying PDF to remember how many riders are left to go. Would be simpler to have that on screen

The only thing I've seen them do that's helpful w/ the split times is the "knockout" of the 31st rider in Semi-Finals.

It's also insane that full schedule and full details on next season isn't out for next year. Neko brought it up on the "Working Class of #USDH" podcast that Jackie Ricecakes did from the pits... but how are teams supposed to come to their sponsors with asks when the "package" hasn't even been revealed as of yet. They're seriously making this tough on teams to succeed at this point.

Asa Vermette to Commencal MucOff. Max said.

Other reflections would be more about the broadcasting and the format itself.

Reporters:

A good team would be Gwin instead of Cedric and Rob instead of "the other guy"in the booth. Altough I like Cedric and his last performance but I think it is better in propper english. Especially for those wo do not speak english as mother tongue.

Format:

Then it would be great to come back to normal finals. Like the semi final as final  and transmit it for free. I can not imagine that many pay to watch. And as 20 can win it is just idiotic to not show all 60.

I also believe that the semi final is responsible for the many crashes and injuries. The level of commitmend is so high I do  ot understand how they do it mentally to litteraly risk their life twice in a day.

Organisation wise:

A slightly longer season with then races would be great. As a spectator it is a brilliantly entertaining sport and the off season is to long. ESO and UCI should think about lowering the coasts for the organisers. More races for little less probably make more in the end. Not to mention the relatively late official calendar. It even makes it difficult for me as I only want to plan my hollidays in order to go and se all the european rounds.

Otherwise it has been a fantastic season for a fantastic sport. The level of racing is just mindblowing. Not everything was as bad as the keyboard warriors will try to make us believe.

Looks like Yohann is announcing his sponsor/partnership tomorrow. This makes it much more likely that it's Devinci.

Probably waiting for the Crankworx Whistler dates so they can schedule a round that conflicts.

The teams have known a little more about the venues/continents/countries for a few weeks now.
But everything Neko says is what will teach you what it means to TRULY be pro.
Pro about putting on events.
Pro about getting a team together.
The calendar/budget/money ALL depend on schedules & pricing being set by the promotions/event co-ordinators by Sept. 1st each yr.
Unless you've got a trust fund or blank check, you can't show sponsors a budget, schedule, forecast exposure...nothing.
That is a killer.
Each year DHSE has done a better job of getting their race schedule out to the public so US racers & teams can plan the following year.
Not too much to ask Discovery/ESO to do the same.

Really?

One of the Alran brothers was the last I heard with the other one more than likely in another Commencal team.

I can't see anyone even with the deepest pockets signing two potential world champions as first year juniors.

Exactly, Red Bull has additional events for 2024 which the teams, industry etc. have known about for a while but are not publicly announce for a few weeks.

Promotors are waiting for the right PR window when it wont be lost behind the last round or the World Cup, Rampage etc.

So they must have just released it because Jordie in the MSA video said they didn't have all the info yet and that was echoed by Intense Mechanic in same video....

Neko said the same in the Working Class USDH podcast. Said they don't have the information they need about locations, venues, coverage, costs, etc.. to confidently approach potential sponsors with a detailed package.

Maybe they've released the dates/venues privately.. but there are other details the teams need which still haven't been released but have customarily been pushed out by this time. It seems to be a pretty common refrain that team managers feel like things are behind already in looking forward to next season.

has it been released in full with dates and venues? one would think w/ neko's connections, he'd know the schedule, but his comment implies there aren't concrete dates yet.

North America is a big place with wildly variant costs for accommodations and travel. As far as I know they have concrete? dates for American rounds but not have released the venues for whatever reason.

Some highlights from the Misspent Summers race recap email after Snowshoe…

Did ever-present Greg Minnaar announce his retirement to Sven in this interview last week?

Höll gets her name on the big new World Cup winners’ trophy. Who keeps it though? The mystery continues.

Will a big team be on a gearbox bike in 2024?

The World Cup organisers say the 2024 race calendar (all disciplines) will be out in October (2023) – complete with dates and venues.

But will there also be a new series of three very hard downhill races in 2024?

Watching the newest ed bull media house from MSA Shandro was line spotting and recording video for sacha earnest, and she’s on a trek now. Maybe she’ll be on TFR next year. About time that team has a female rider.
