• I think we are gonna see some big changes happen at Trek Factory Racing for next year for XC, Enduro and DH.
• GT bicycles ends their factory race DH program but Wyn Masters has been secretly in the back rooms working on keeping the riders on the same team with GT being just the frame supplier. The team continues a Privateer help system which helps get more sponsors involved for the team as they want that good PR.

Why would they bother with GT if GT isn't paying? Those frames are a nightmare. Just go get frames from anyone. Buy them if they need to. If GT isn't dropping cash. I doubt there will be anyone riding those. GT wants to sell bikes to walmart not bike shops.
You have worked on the new DH frame? What makes them a nightmare?
Interested to hear the reply. From the outside it looks like GT made those frames with 148 rear ends specifically to make things easier for privateers.

Laurie was one of the first there rustling with the personel jumping around celebrating when Jackson had just finished his run. Syndicate coat, Syndicate shirt, Red Bull cap. Just rewatched the end. To me it did not appear that there'd be anything. After Bruni's interview Jackson was hugging Minnaar, Brosnan etc and there was probably what could be thought of ghosting.
Per popular media working the event...the crowd of French Canadians was impossible to navigate vs actual French who were respectful & knowledgeable of the racers & media alike.
I'm just gonna assume that the spectators made those celebratory moments oddly and rudely uncomfortable.
Especially considering that jackass literally rushing on track at the finish while Jackson is coming through the lower rocks & having to be stopped.
Maybe that's happened at a World Cup before, but literally the closest to catastrophe I've seen in a while.

Photogs at Les Getz this and last year mentioned they where pushed over with tens of thousands of $$ of kit damaged in the stampede to the finish line.
Seems like this year more than ever there are some names that were on smaller deals that have really ramped up as consistent contenders this year and should be getting big pay raises or a new team if not. Kolb, Dak, Ronan all have made big steps on being consistently fast which I think is a priority for these teams.
DH is cool because all the racers and it seems team mates are all so close compared to like Supercross team mates but also seems like that makes thing a little bit sticky when things get rocky with either disagreements or feeling underpaid/under prioritized on the team.

I don’t really get teams like GT and intense dropping their race teams. Racing is about the only good marketing those companies have. It’s not like they are doing cool stuff in other realms of MTB (minus brage riding a GT). Maybe they are just REALLY hurting cash wise. If not, i hope they have a really good marketing plan for how to use that money that was going to the race team, cause if it weren’t for downhill, i would Never know anything about what’s going on with those two particular brands.
For GT and Intense in specific, I think Hans Rey still provides a lot of good exposure for GT and Intense seems to do very well marketing to the off-road motorsports market in North America. That being said, I'd be surprised if Intense and IFR split with how important racing is to Jeff Steber. I'd be less surprised if GT left since they're under the PON umbrella, as a couple other people have mentioned already, and it would make more sense to position Santa Cruz as the premium racing brand of PON in my opinion.
I'm stoked to see where Craik and Pinky end up. Would love to see Wyn and co put together a sponsor package where they can keep GT as the bike sponsor/provider. For instance a "Monster Energy GT Racing" team or "Snickers GT Racing".
just posted interviews from MSA and some interesting things said in there. danny says he hasn't signed a contract yet, jordi says FOX is a big company and their budget is made. calendar specifics are unknown and if he needs more money to race, that may be difficult, wyn mentions spending time in USA, gwin mentions things announced in the next month or so. good stuff from the ground.
He said that while what I would say was purposely wearing all the redbull gear he could find.... I think Kade and Trek are done
It looks like there was some sponsor issue with his helmet brand (info from a german forum). Kade rode a 100% helmet until Snowshow but used a borrowed Fox helmet in MSA.
Trek Factory racing is sponsored by 100%, so there you go.

Didn't Kade get a concussion in MSA. Maybe his 100% helmet was a write off, and didn't have a backup in North America, so borrowed a Red Bull helmet that fit for MSA. Would be enough to get "banned" by Trek to appease a team sponsor?

I’m going to guess
young talent pick up some established talent
new Ms team MS intense? With a change up on riders
a rider leaves the syndicate but one doesn’t retire
Craic to cube or Scott
Trek pick up 2 female riders
riders in both categories without points don’t return to race World Cup ESO plans worked out a treat to cut the dead wood. If you don’t qualify you shouldn’t be there if you have 0 points
all in the name of TV coverage.
basically every race in Europe except for some XC
Vali back on YT. Id like that! Probably with a better deal than she had on the table when she left for TREK
Swapping out RedBull helmets that aren't even visibly logo-ed with the helmet brand is nothing to Trek. Doubt they care in the slightest.
And the Pirelli tire thing...his mechanic is responsible for blacking out tire logos. Nothing Kade could do in the pits to intentionally run a logo-ed up tire. Mechanic is responsible for rubber & if needed to black out, he/she would.
Trek would have refused the video interview if they didn't want the G5 logos displayed.

Yep, RPC in practice, cant tell maybe one of Laurie's or Jacksons helmets?
Probably would breach either a 100% or a Red Bull contract to either race in a plain helmet / wrong brand helmet. I doubt it was a Trek thing and more of a personal contract issue.
If I'm not mistaken Kade is also the only rider on the WC circuit on Red Bull and 100%, so no one else to borrow from.

Kade is preternaturally talented and loves riding his bike but he does'nt have the racers mindset (a lot like Bryceland).
He also hates training.
His original contract with Trek did'nt actually specify racing, but he could do events as he pleased. I suspect that may have changed (it's been a while since I last talked to him) and he is quite vocal when he's not happy!
He knows his worth in media coverage and does well with RB so he won't struggle to find a less corporate home for his talents.

They absolutely destroyed the pits that night...we had locked literally everything inside but there was still trash everywhere. Lots of teams had stuff stolen and or damaged. Not my favorite venue to be honest. One guy tried to steal my wheelbag on the way to qualies and I almost crashed my rider's training bike super hard. I had to rip my wheelbag out of his hand. Had the trainer on one side of the handlebar and the bag on the other.

Obviously, it depends on the contract, but I'd put better odds on there being zero leniency for him not being on/in the right equipment anywhere at a race site.
As it's been said, TFR has a lot of resources, so getting a sponsor-correct helmet probably wouldn't have been that hard with their obligation to 100%. Redbull was "probably" but definitely possibly not okay with things. You'd imagine that in an extreme situation, a plain helmet with RB logos would suffice for them.
Sponsor obligations are a lot less forgiving than you'd think. It's one thing to be using/trying something away from cameras but at a race venue filled with cameras....
It may not sound like the "fairest" of situations and people may want to say things like "Why can't TFR or whoever just be cool about this," but it's called being sponsored.
Now, if there's a safety issue or a loss of confidence in the product, it creates a whole other debate about sponsor obligations.

I genuinely hope everyone’s feelings get enough time to heal during the off-season… was there for the race, did not notice much except the jackass that went on the last jump a few seconds before Jackson showed up. As for the theft issue, i hope police got informed (otherwise it never happened, right?) and i would like to remind you that the Union team got all their bikes stolen at Fort Will in 2022. Locking your stuff might be a safer approach here but the good thing here is you won’t get jumped by weirdos carrying weapon of any types in the area, which unfortunately cannot be said about other countries south of us or even overseas 🤷♂️ Peace out and hope to see you back at MSA, a venue offering a « proper DH track » as every athlete said during the week! ✌️
