2021 Mountain Bike Team Rumors

Ángel Suarez teasing his new bike Here Looks to be on Magura brakes. Also looks like he’s running a specialized phenom saddle. Definitely a mullet though.
That’s a Hayes D Type rotor from the Dominion Brakes. I’d expect to see a few teams using them this year since they’re so damn good.

It's now Confirmed he's parting ways with Commencal. Retirement I'd say is atleast a year out. He looked much more like his old self in the races we did get to watch this year. I'd bet he puts in atleast one more solid year of racing after how felt after the year he had.

Dude has also been thru a lot on a bike. Maybe going from broken back to world champs bronze at leogang was enough for him and rightfully so. Either way he can get some decent legacy endorsements whatever he decides to do. Very few fast guys are that exciting to watch on a bike and have results to back their resume. Maybe he’ll be a smaller teams number one at the same time.
As French with bad English I hope he'll land somewhere he'll be able to speak mostly French 😅
And speaking of smaller team lead rider there is la Santa Cruz brigade...

Danny Hart to Nukeproof? What we thinking.
No, I think he will be going to Cube. However I do have a feeling that nukeproof may return with a dh team, maybe with Jamie Edmondson and Brayton on board

How about Thirion to the Syndicate? Commencal seems like the perfect fit for him tbh so would have to be a pretty sweet offer for him to leave. SC have a base in Morzine where presumably they’ve made some big investment so maybe they want to keep an exciting Frenchie on a V10?

Reckon they're enves from the logos on both sides being covered so who would that be? Scott or Commencal as I can't think of any other teams running them

It would make sense for it to be commencal with the hayes brakes since they are now off sram and I don't think there were any teaming running them last year.

Look like crank brothers rims. Would be cool to see Angel on an Unno frame.

The seatube looks quite thick to me, it could be another hint for Unno bikes.

Wonder if Specialized XC Factory team may be done? Langvad retired, haley and blevins gone. They just have a couple guys left I think like Simon Andreasson and no hints or announcements of new signings. Wonder if they are backing away from it a bit.
When did Blevins stop with specialized? Did i miss something?

Team Trinity will still be specialized sponsored but its not a spesh factory team. https://www.trinityracing.co.uk/
Saw an Instagram post about it last night hahaha sweet! Maybe Blevins will throw in some 'cross too? Man's got skills. Also nice to see he'll still be rocking some sick kits Cool

Those look very much like Burgtec Bartender grips!

Scott DH on Shimano next year? Marine Cabirou posted a story on Insta and the levers look like XTR.

Atwill to syndicate would be cool. Have Greg shape his race form while still being Phil.

Hope Mike Jones is staying on the DH circuit... great rider and always looks heavily involved in track walks with his team mates, any team would benefit having him on it.

I like Phil but there is no way he's off to Syndicate even thou it would never happen, he has a following and he's shown some great ability and results but so did Shaun Palmer and we all know what happened there.

Shawn Palmer burned out because he partied way too hard. Is Phil off the deep end? Seems an intelligent guy to me.

I don’t think Atwill would be a mistake on the Syndicate’s part at all. He’s a top 10 and has placed top 5 on a few occasions. Also top 20 world champs guy. And, he’s got that whole free racer/jib rider thing going on a-la Brendog, Bernard, Wyn, Kade and Kaos and that aspect certainly seems popular with the DH bike customer. Plus, the syndicate hasn’t had that guy since The Rat. And, he’s from the UK so he’ll probably get along with Peaty (isn’t that one of the reasons people are saying Loris wanted out?). And and, working with Minnaar and Peaty as tall guys could yield better results. And and and, SC already has a mahoosive sized bike for him thanks to Minnaar. Not saying Phil to the syndicate is something I predict would happen but if it did it wouldn’t be all that shocking.

I wonder if the experience with The Privateers in Lousa has stirred up something between Phil A, Jamie E, Cathro, etc.
Probably not, but it would be kind of a nice team to root for.
No way is he moving to Syndicate.

A few thoughts:

1. We ASSUME that a certain rider is going to a certain team, because we figure out certain parts on censored photos that haven't been censored good enough, but why aren't we taking into consideration that there are small sponsor/partner changes from year to year? By this I mean smaller players than SRAM/Shimano, who receive public goodbye letters. So what if Scott, for example, isn't on Enve next year, but Cube is?

2. Is UNNO still running a DH program? Would be cool to see Angel there.

3. When it comes to small things, like grips, I have seen riders opting for products that aren't from the team sponsors, as few people notice that. Burgtec, DMR, ODI and Renthal grips are obviously super popular around the circuit. (Not related to team rumours, but the Bartender grips are my favourite and I have noticed similarities in look to Lizard Skins grips, which Peaty used to have a deal with.)

4. I miss the days when there were more important suspension stakeholders on the circuit than today's ”two party system” of RockShox and Fox. I would love to see Marzocchi out there and obviously Manitou as well and I honestly hope Hayes pushes for that.

Can't wait to see what the new year brings, team- and sponsor-wise!

I'd love to see Phil Atwill ride for GT. He already has a great rapport with Wyn (they've been hanging out together recently).

I think another good fit for Phil Atwill would be Pivot. That would be the loosest team on the circuit, for sure.

I'm pretty sure that Marzocchi are owned by fox now so I Dont think that we will be seeing any marzocchi supported teams any time soon

Why not? You want to push both to sell and supporting teams is natural marketing. But I guess Fox knows better. I only said what I'd LIKE to see, not what the future holds, as I am no clairvoyant. :D
