Either way, this is the ultimate place to be if team rumors, racer gossip and the odd snippet of verifiable truth is what your offseason dreams are made of. Nobody wants to to see Christmas ads in October but finding out how your favorite brands and riders will mingle and mix next year is like opening your presents early! On with the show!

I just hope this shot storm finishes and next years racing happens, I can't but feel sorry for Jack Moir who is having a great year in Enduro and DH now but I feel he should be put on the full DH programme for 2021!
I would also don't want to see Hart back on Giant but I have a feeling its going to happen as they have been a not of a nothing team the last 2 years.
Maybe if we make enough noise Yeti may come back to DH racing with a SB190 Switch DH bikes that was once prototyped, it clearly works great and all Yeti have to do is make 100 limited edition bikes and they'll all sell out.

not for nothing, but giant currently isn't offering their DH bike for sale in the US, not sure if that's business driven or is somehow tangentially driven by their limited DH program - 3 riders, one of whom isn't a dedicated full time racer. nothing against EJ, one of my fav riders, but he wasn't planning on a full 2020 WC schedule even before the season went sideways
edit: initially misread your post, but i still think giant is unlikely.

Here's the aforementioned instagram post with the new Jekyll/Judge/Whatever.
Wasn't one of last years main rumours that Jack Moir was off to Cannondale until they canned the idea of a DH team at the last minute? It would be a bit of a backflip to then release a new DH bike with zero presence on the WC circuit.

For danny: the team manager of ms has personaly wanted danny back. He needs someone to put pressure on laury to finaly start winning more frequently and since mike jones is probanly leaving, no better person than danny to fill the spot

If a team manager drops in with a "nope", its a shocker. Hah!
we totally got the point, BUT some dude from Switzerland wrote "the team manager of ms has personaly wanted danny back. He needs someone to put pressure on laury to finaly start winning more frequently" and we simply want to state that this is not the case.
It's one thing to do some random guessing and share speculations, but another thing to make a bad joke on the back of riders.

So what you are saying is that Danny Hart is actually joining the team but for more reasonable reasons...

Apparently spec only sell 500 DH bikes a year, they mentioned it on one of the podcasts. So 100 might be a stretch.

So Giant is actively working on their DH rigs. I've seen it. Tweaking and refining is what I gather

on the c'dale team topic - there is a UCI rule that stipulates bikes/components used in racing must be available for commercial sale within a certain timeframe from when they are first raced. since c'dale didn't commercialize the DH bike they were racing, i've been wondering if that was a factor in the dissolvement of the team.
per UCI:
Part I - General organisation of cycling as a sport - 1.3.006 - Equipment shall be of a type that is sold for use by anyone practicing cycling as a sport.
Any equipment in development phase and not yet available for sale (prototype) must be
subject of an authorisation request to the UCI Equipment Unit before its use. Authorisation will be granted only for equipment which is in the final stage of development
and for which commercialisation will take place no later than 12 months after the first use
in competition. The manufacturer may request a single prolongation of the prototype
status if justified by the relevant reasons. When assessing a request for use of equipment which is not yet available for sale, the
UCI Equipment Unit will pay particular attention to the safety of the equipment which will
be submitted to it for authorisation.
The use of equipment designed especially for the attainment of a particular performance
(record or other) shall not be authorised.
Upon expiry of the authorised period of use of a prototype (equipment not yet available
for sale), any item of equipment must be commercially available in order to be used in
cycling events. The requirement of commercial availability shall be understood as
equipment having to be available through a publicly available order system (whether with
manufacturer, distributor or retailer). Upon an order being placed, the order shall be
confirmed within 30 days and the relevant equipment shall be made available for delivery
within a further 90-day deadline. In addition, the retail price of the equipment shall be
publicly advertised, shall not render the equipment de facto unavailable to the general
public and shall not unreasonably exceed the market value for equipment of a similar
standard.
Any equipment which is not commercially available and is not authorised (not authorised
by UCI Equipment Unit or authorised period expired), may not be used in cycling events
governed by the UCI Regulations. Any such unauthorised use of equipment may be
sanctioned by disqualification of results obtained when using the equipment and/or a fine
ranging from CHF 5’000 to 100’000.
I'm pretty sure as long as Greg wants to race, there's a spot for him at the Syndicate... Have they ever actually dropped anyone?
Nathan Rennie, but I think there were reasons on that one. Something about a big blow up at interbike one year. At that point it was Peaty, Rennie, Bryceland and Minnar had just joined the team the previous year from Honda.
Well the bikes used to be more like that (remember khs going 29" on dh bike in ?2012, Barels moondrakers with HTA below 60° years ago...
Well the bikes used to be more like that (remember khs going 29" on dh bike in ?2012, Barels moondrakers with HTA below 60° years ago, legendary honda g-cross, Vouillozes bikes etc.), many pros would ride custom bikes (to some extent) but now the difference with production bikes is almost nonexisting, especially with carbon molds and build in adjustability... The persionalization can now be found more in the suspension than geometries, these seem pretty dialed!
Nevertheless I'm really curious if there will be some development in the direction of Grim donut because if experienced world class rider said there is obvious potential in it would somebody consider it, or has downhill market simply shrunk so much that it just doesnt make sense to put so much effort into it? Anyway I still hope that a weirdo like Levy would change the industry with his joke :D
That's hust the key, if it's shrunk to a point where it doesn't make sense to put out a bike on the market (a-la Yeti), but if it still has marketing potential, why not make a spaceship of a bike? A different bike for every rider on the team? Etc.?
Maybe recoup the development costs with a run of 20 'one-off' bikes, custom made for the buyer who can spec the geometry the way he pleases. Make a marketing thing out of it.
Mercedes, through sponsorships and prize money, paid 30 million for the F1 team in total in 2019. The supposed marketing effect it had having a dominanting team is supposedly in billions.
Point? You don't have to sell the race vehicles for the team/discipline to be a marketing success.

Urlpls. Seriously. There was talk of 50 enduro bikes for every DH bikes sold from 'one of the big brands in the industry' quite a while ago, but 500?? Worldwide?! That's insane, seriously. I mean I see no point in owning a DH bike (when my trail/enduro/whatever-that-pedals can do bikeparks), but I didn't think it's THAT bad.
I would also don't want to see Hart back on Giant but I have a feeling its going to happen as they have been a not of a nothing team the last 2 years.

Next we will has SC Syndicate popping in to tell us Greg is fine for another year as they just dropped of a crate of wine at his house.
Nice work by Wyn.

It was a long ass time ago and I am am old ass man who falls off his bike a a fair amount so I may not remember correctly.
