Local shop says allocations are stupid, and Spech is holding them for themselves. He's gotten 2, and had to make phone calls for the second one for a customer. 3-4 month estimated delivery even though a consumer can order online.
This x100. Multiple month lead times for shops ordering. 3 day delivery if you order directly off the website.......and you collect from the store who can't get you one for 4 months. And people ask 'why are specialized hated so much'.
I think another potential advantage of low leverage rate kinematics is a reduction of effective damper hysteresis (time dependent lag for damper to build pressure) felt. I can imagine this being noticable in extreme leverage rate scenarios but not sure if it would actually be noticable in the ranges we are talking about.
I always felt that the shock on my geometron with 70mm stroke for 175mm felt better than my kenevo sl 65mm stroke for 182mm. Both on retuned ext shocks. Its most likely due to kinematics/damper tune differences but who knows, maybe it's feeling the leverage rate benefits.

This is a trend that is not unique to Specialized. If you don’t do a solid pre-sale buy in, you’re SOL when an actual customer wants to get a bike.
Why all of a sudden is it despicable that Specialized sell bikes online? I'm sure they're not the only ones...
In the UK if you buy from them, they can ship it to your door, or you can "click and collect" it from your dealer. You can however only click and collect it if it is instock at their warehouse or at the dealer itself.
If it's not in stock at the warehouse Specialized have select dealers (mostly their owned ones) can also ship it to you too. The owned retail shops also regularly move stock between them (via TNT/Fedex). So if you walk into a shop that doesn't have the bike you're going to buy, it can be shipped to that location to be prepped for you. It's a pretty good system from my experience... for the customer at least.
From the info I can see the Stumpy is in low supply at the UK warehouse (which could mean loads are sitting in shop windows) and new stock which comes from the EU warehouse is a couple of months... which means that their stock is low too. I don't believe they're flying out the doo, but it's not abysmal. Just like every other brands bikes that aren't E.
The UK shops that struggle with Spesh are generally the ones that have a massive portfolio of brands and don't order much, so why should Spesh be loyal to them when there are other shops that do better (work harder) for the brand. Again that's just standard business.
Without aiming to get the last word in on this installment of thread derailment, could I ask that we get back to tech rumours. Please
I know there's not much happening, so maybe we just don't post in this thread until something actually happens?

Moto steering dampers start at around $350 and get up there quite quick. Early MTB ones (Hopey is the only one I can think of) weren't approaching $650 but they were several hundred bucks 20 years ago. This seems to be quite a technical product with a lot of R&D so the price doesnt surprise me too much

Well, here’s one thing I can already say that is very positive about Padmelon. I placed my order yesterday but was hemming and hawing about whether to order for my DH bike or enduro bike. I decided enduro and quickly ordered as I was late getting out the door. Apparently I had mistakenly added the mount for my DH bike instead of my enduro bike but had ordered the correct damper. The Padmelon team caught it, sent me an email and told me they would hold the order until I confirmed. This saved me a lot of time and money and was much appreciated. That kind of CS will go a long way and is awesome to see. I get $650 is a lot for this part and that it is unlikely to provide that level of value for a lot of people but they’re doing things the right way and I’m glad I am giving them a shot.
Showed up today. Will likely head to a bike park on 8/30 so that's probably when I'll try it out and will post a review in a separate thread when I do (sorry not a rumor but relevant to what we had discussed). Feels very solidly built and installation looks extremely straightforward.

That's totally fine, I'm just pointing out that it could be affecting sales numbers as some people only want to purchase bikes from shops. It also means there are not as many on the sales floor for people to test ride or sit on, and with a new style of shock, many in the know will likely want to see it and feel it.

Heavy rumours of an updated rail with the gen 5 bosch.(carbon & alloy) (maybe release of full gen 4 rail in both carbon & alloy) & the gen 4 rail is really good but not made in alloy sadely.

Pretty sure when I bought mine back in 2005?
They were close to $200-300 each. Lot of carefully finished machining and anodizing. In case nobody has noticed everything has skyrocketed in price since Brandon snuck in and started printing fiat currency. MTB’s are heading to snowski level where only rich people do it.

There is nothing wrong with Specialized selling direct online. It's pretty crummy to delay dealer orders when the same bike is available online. Thats just crapping on the dealer network.

Wow, that's crazy. I thought the U.S. has been off the gold standard since Nixon in '71. Oh wait, I don't think we're supposed to get into politics here.

Didn’t they release an update to the Session already? Something with the idler being changed a bit to improve suspension further? What new could they introduce? Also, what’s the point of an updated Rail when you have the e-Xe and the e-Slash? I wanna see an e-Session, but feel it would cannibalize e-Slash’s sales - if it ever existed, i’d never buy something else from the brand and think a lit more people think like me! 😁

In the UK it might not be in stock at the warehouse, but could be at one of their concept stores or other selected dealers that can dispatch online orders.
In that case they will not allow that bike to be ordered by another dealer as its already owned by one. Specialized will (like ANY business) sell their stock on a first come first served basis. Unfortunately if you miss out it's then thats just how it is. But it is not crapping on dealers.

Depends on the size of the sales floor.
Specialized UK have a large fleet of demo bike available (on request) to their dealers. Aside form that there are plenty of demo events to try them on proper trails as most shops won't be that close to decent trails for someone "in the know" to see and feel it properly.

I could believe Session because DH is at the forefront of investment and media again now that Enduro has been axed at the international level.
The point of the Rail is that people out there do want full-power e-bikes. Another, perhaps more cynical thought, is that the Rail is what would be competitive for E-Duro, which (again leaning cynically) could be pushed to the forefront with the decline of 'traditional' enduro.

Demos seem like a great thing to do with all that extra inventory right? Is the bottleneck getting van drivers? I'm just not going to commit thousands of dollars to a high pivot trail bike without taking one out for an actual ride first. I feel like this mentality also applies to "core" riders and ebikes.

New Schwalbe tire in 2.6
Presumably its name is "Spear" (which is German for "Spear")
It’s been known for a while, it’s an Albert Gravity, probably mid fall release
Which one is it? Spear or Albert? Or the secret third option Albert Speer?
Same tread as the new Albert trail/gravity whatever that’s been coming on new bikes for a bit
That's an Albert gravity. Saw on in person a few days ago. Same exact thing.
Showed up today. Will likely head to a bike park on 8/30 so that's probably when I'll try it out and will post a review in a separate thread when I do (sorry not a rumor but relevant to what we had discussed). Feels very solidly built and installation looks extremely straightforward.
