I thought the one spotted in NZ a while back was the weagle jack shaft idler high pivot thing? I don't see any obvious mounts for the jake shaft for an idler? Maybe this is something different? Otherwise sure looks similar. And looks identical to the pb photos. Interesting.

I'm no expert but I would definitely have both a standard drivetrain version and a newfangled magic drivetrain version, so my riders can try both and pick which they prefer.

That's not the new Phoenix. That wall hanger has DW6 linkage. Odds are that Pivot's been working on lugged prototypes for a while and the new Phoenix isn't the first bike going down this road.

I'm definitely curious to know how many and for how long companies have been building lugged prototypes in recent years. The lug/tube concept isn't new, just cool new ways to make the lugs.

The wall hanger looks to just be a DW not a dw6. And yeah, I guess it shouldn't be surprising that different prototypes have a family resemblance, they probably try to use the same molds for the tubes and only alter the lugs. It is dam good looking!

Any news for the alu Devinci prototype, the so called Chainsaw? Is it just an alu Spartan HP, or is it something different (like with a lil bit more travel)?

Wasn't the original prototype for the Spartan named 'Chainsaw'? I seem to recall Devinci using the name on the bike Smith rode in Pietermaritzburg but then they decided to change the name for release, they had a reason but I don't remember why. Maybe 'Chainsaw' is just a prototype name?

Wanted to start a thread for new bike tech and rumors. Recently, the racing rumors page has turned into an Ebike debate so lets get this thread started off right!

First up, Santa Cruz Heckler

This thread started with a new SC eBike. Any update on their lineup? The Bullit and Heckler are around 3 Years old… and lighter Motorsystems have been introduced in the meantime?

Santa Cruz new colors and build kits out? Not sure how old that information is, looks like they’ve replaced some of the build kits with RS forks

Those launched with the new SRAM drivetrain. You'll see a lot more all-SRAM builds (including forks) in Santa Cruz's lineup.

Back on page 370 in this thread some screenshots from a webstore were posted for a new bike called Chainsaw. Little less than 16.5kg, with a 170mm fork, together with the other details it seems like an alu version of the Spartan. And yet the proto photos suggest a more gravity oriented bike with the Boxxer mounted up front…

I've heard they have a light weight e-mtb coming out, think Kenevo SL.

If that's Laurie's bike, he's been known to run Hope cranks with Saint stickers.

Sorry, I should have been more clear with my thoughts here. My thought was that maybe the 'Chainsaw' prototype is  a) just a new Spartan since that was the 'old' pre-release name, or  b) it could be that they're using 'Chainsaw' as a general name for (long-travel) prototypes, or  c) it is in fact a new 'park' bike like a Canyon Torque that could be a DH bike and enduro bike for some.

Hey tech Gurus - wondering if someone can clarify something for me; Is the new sram transmission Crank + chainring compatible with the original eagle technology cassette and derailleur if a new T type chain is used?

Cracked and iscg mount so looking for alternative bash guard options

Nope - the new T Type Chain is not compatible with the old eagle universe. There might be a way around with new SRAM Cranks and a chainring from a 3 party vendor?

The flat top road stuff has a different diameter of the rolers. I think it's a case of somebody has to try it out. But there was a cross compatibility mentioned in the release article. Might be in fact that the front chainrings work with the older drivetrains.

EDIT: it's the old shifter pods that are compatible with the new derailleurs...

He wants the new chainring for the integrated bash guard.

The new chainring is compatible with the old chain, It even says ob it: T-Type or Eagle chain only. Whereas the other components say: T-Type only

Wolftooth does a direct mount bash ring that has a spider for their chainring. CAMO is term. You have to buy bash guard and chainring. Looks quality, but I haven't used it or any wolftooth chainrings so I can't say for sure. Lots cheaper than a whole new drivetrain.

I did see the cross compatibility thing on the vital post and it stated it was compatible in the way i described it - it specifically mentioned needing to use the T type chain to make it work though, i found it to be a bit of an odd scenario that the flat top chain would work with the old derailleur - hence the question, it appears though that someone else just said the chain ring is compatible with eagle chains, which i had previously read was not compatible

Ugh this would have been perfect, sadly I’ve opted for hope cranks on this bike so this option doesn’t help me either.

Those lugs look welded to me? I wonder how cnc+welded lugs compare price wise to the athertons printed ones.

Side note - I think we can definitively say the new intense gravy boat is just cnc’d in two halves and welded together. I’d be interested to hear some opinions on how that thing will behave? I’m assuming it can only be welded around its perimeter?

Okay, one of you with the know how needs to enhance that white board to be legible.

The Pivot lugs, the head tube looks like it might welded but the rest look all cnc.
