Eurobike 2015
You guys asked for it, Evil did it. Kevin Walsh says market requests pressured him into making a 27.5 version of the Uprising. The step up to bigger wheels gave Evil the opportunity to update several key details. What you see in front of you is called the Insurgent.
Compared to the Uprising, the Insurgent has an oversized chainstay to boost rear end stiffness, wider bearing spacing for the same reason (it's 1x only), the move from a 15 to 17mm axle at the main pivot, and the reduction in some tube sizes where it makes sense. A few of the changes were inspired by Evil's work on The Following 29er, which, if you ask him straight up, Kevin says he prefers for various reasons.
The integrated 1x chainguide can be configured with a custom bash from e*thirteen if you choose.
It used to be very difficult to swap a shock on the Uprising, but new material on the links goes inside the bearings making for easier shock swaps and improving stiffness.
Additional features include a sag meter for easy suspension setup, improved mud clearance for those mucky days, a new rear axle design, and better accessibility to the rear shock.
The bike can be configured with 150 to 170mm forks, though it is fitted with a 160mm fork on production builds. Using the rear suspension adjustments you can swap from 63- to 65-degree head angle and adjust the bottom bracket height.
For those who are curious, the Uprising will still be made moving forward. Kevin says, "the bike rides too well to let it die." Update: We lied. 26-inch is dead.
