Mavic introduced a new wheelset system at the Sea Otter Classic. Mavic says the original Crossmax Enduro system was developed with Jerome Clementz, a lighter rider, so it may not have suited bigger riders as well. For that reason they've upped the width of the wheel to 23mm internally. The wheels will come in 27.5 only, use a UST profile, have 24 spokes per wheel, and are Shimano/SRAM XD compatible.
Mavic believes that a wheel and tire should complement one another, so the wheels are sold with Mavic's new tires. The 2.4-inch wide tires feature a Guard 2 dual ply casing and dual rubber compound. The wheels weighs in at 1,710g, and will go for $1,000 with tires. The tires are $90 each separately.
