Maybe there is a rideable prototype Orbea that they've done a good job keeping u fer wraps? Testing it, but not racing it yet?

There's also the possibility that what Lawman's partner saw was real and Orbea is buying up prototypes from another team, like a bunch of teams did back in the Intense days. They could slap some decals on another brand's bike.

Have a friend who works for a large Orbea retailer

There certainly is a dh bike, based on what Martin was testing.  I expect we will see Tahnee on it soon enough

I'm not so convinced. I'm not saying this in the case in this situation, but the bike industry is in shambles. It’s possible that, given the circumstances, this was the best option available to them.

Any port in a storm as they say.

mille on intense factory racing

Intense Factory Racing would like to announce the first addition to their 2025 downhill team; the incredibly talented Mille Johnset.

Mille, whose results and reputation speak for themselves, will be racing aboard the Intense M1 platform. Her arrival marks an exciting step forward for both her career and the team’s ambitious plans for the upcoming season.

"As a true racer, Mille is the perfect fit for Intense Factory Racing - happy, goal-driven, and fully committed to achieving her potential. “I’m already enjoying working with her and look forward to having her positive energy around the pits”  said Performance Director Olly Morris.

Mille, at just 23 years old, already boasts an impressive résumé. With two podium finishes in 2024, she’s known for her aggressive riding style, sharp racecraft, and ability to perform when it matters most. Her addition to the team represents a shared vision of excellence and progression.

Mille is clearly looking forward to the season.

‘’I’m excited to partner with Intense Factory Racing as we embark on this new chapter together. I feel super grateful to work alongside such a thoughtful and forward-thinking team. I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together. I can’t wait to start the season with the entire team in my corner. The bike has been feeling so good, and I’m super excited for the upcoming season surrounded with some awesome people and amazing set up bike!’

Mille will make her debut on the Intense M1 DH bike at Crankworx races in New Zealand before heading back to Europe to kick off the DH MTB World Cup in Poland.

Intense Cycles is equally excited about Mille’s arrival with Founder, Jeff Steber adding,

‘’Such an exciting year ahead for IFR and to top it all off, we welcome Mille Johnset to the team. Mille’s talent speaks for itself, and we are confident she will be a key asset for the programme this year. We are committed to supporting her development and achieving great results together. Mille will be equipped with the latest M1 downhill bike and cutting edge gear, ensuring she has every advantage on the world's most challenging courses.''

Intense Factory Racing is a team rich in history, known for its vibrant, passionate, and innovative spirit. Under the ownership of Joe Breeden and his team since early 2024, the program has returned to its roots—empowering riders to craft their way through the sport and providing the support they need to become champions.

Born in Norway, Mille grew up honing her skills on the slopes as an experienced skier and isn’t afraid of an ice bath! Despite a demanding race schedule, she values her strong family connections and enjoys returning to Norway whenever possible. With her incredible talent and down-to-earth personality, Mille is set to make a significant impact on the Intense Factory Racing team in 2025.

Didn't Tony S say something on a wyn TV about FMD being on a bike that did well for the Americans in Paris? I read that as spec.

I wonder if Orbea is going the gearbox route? Take a slimmed-down frame based on the wild and slap a gearbox in instead of a motor and battery

Aon racing using a oleo strut shock that’s been used on a bike before, made by a tank engineer.

Fairly obvious this was going to happen given the video they posted had space to hold a gearbox on one of their frames and the model number ends in the letter ‘G’

What will teams/riders do next season if the bounty is won? Will they continue to use gearboxes or return to traditional gears?

The existence of the award by GATES is so that belts are more widespread in the sport, this happening could have a bigger investments by companies like Pinion and Gates itself. Making brands choose this instead of normal gears brands.
