The dirt in the excavated sections of the La Thulie track is interesting. It looks like imported gravel and crushed fines, or is that just what the mineral soil composition is when you excavate on that mountain? Whichever it would seem to hold up really well in those catch berms if the race ended up being a wet one compared to clay based berms and features.
That part of the Alps is granite or something similar (volcanic source, hard as woodpecker lips). Grippy AF. For us Slovenians, used to limestone which is slick at the best of times and is like ice in the wet, it was a complete WTF regarding grip levels when it was damp or wet. Better than dry in our neck of the woods.
Interesting piece of news here with regards to WBD in 2025. They're looking to split 'linear' tv from streaming, with possible plans to sell off linear tv once the move is complete in 2025. Doesn't seem great for stability of coverage going forward

Not sure how this relates to the continental series, but looks like a pretty solid calendar and venue selection for 2025. There are two races before the WC starts off, so there's possibly opportunities for those golden tickets we've heard of to get some use from the beginning?
I did hear on the grapevine of another race in France that falls on the same weekend as Aprica which may well be on the continental series, so I'm holding my breath for now.
does not list actual events yet. (unless someone can navigate that calendar link to find them)

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce the launch of Continental Series in 2025, whose events will be included on the UCI Mountain Bike International Calendar.
So far, these series will consist of twelve events in the Americas (seven Olympic cross-country and five downhill events), nine events in Europe (four Olympic cross-country, four downhill, and one combining both formats), and seven events in Oceania (two Olympic cross-country, four downhill, and one combining both formats).
The introduction of these series was approved by the UCI Management Committee in September in Zurich (Switzerland), as part of the key developments for the mountain bike discipline presented by the UCI in collaboration with WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series promoter, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports. These changes, set to take effect from 2025, aim to ensure the continued development of the discipline.
Developed in close collaboration with the Continental Confederations, the Continental Series will provide riders from the different continents with new opportunities to qualify for the UCI World Cups, which are part of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series. A rider finishing in the top five of a Continental Series event will be eligible to participate in a round of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series, while the top five riders in the overall standings of the various Continental Series will have the right to participate in all rounds of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series in the following season. These additional opportunities will contribute to the global expansion of the discipline.
The events in the "Continental Series" (CS) will be similar to the Hors Classe (HC) events in terms of points awarded. This will provide riders around the world with another chance to earn valuable points for the UCI Individual Ranking.

For the combined XC/DH race in Europe, It's likely to be Les Menuires in late August. They host a combined French cup XC/DH often and was the European champs race venue in '23.
And im guessing that ixs is too for europe.
The more I'm reading into it the less I see it, but I'm sure Ft Bill must be one of the continental races.
Cycling Canada is proud to announce that two Canada Cup events – the Canmore Canada Cup XCO and SilverStar Canada Cup DH – will serve as stops in the recently announced UCI Continental Series for mountain bike.
Interesting SS got the green light over the other options out there. Last time I checked it was for sale (or contemplated being for sale), I'm assuming there's some level of investment over whatever they were doing before. Always loved the venue though - they should pair it with a 26" race on World Cup!
If the iXS cup is not the European series, that throws some real red flags for me. Why would they not take advantage of an existing, well known, series that already covers the area in question? Why try to make another series to directly compete with it?

Reads like they a combining races from a number of established series to create the “continental series”.

I blame Warner Bros

Imagine if Warner Bros was your friend. Dude is a mess!
-buys WC coverage
-makes a bunch of radical, unpopular, and sweeping changes in a two year span
-refuses to elaborate
-leaves
Is this the 2025 we can expect from WB/D?
seems like a rocky road ahead
...except even a rocky road would be better for Downhill than WBD's influence.
First round of 2025 Pro Downhill Series announced - Rock Creek, Apr 3-6

I've heard about "Silver mountain" but that's about it from that list.
I understood that reference

The announcement of an Americas series with no schedule could be why pro dh series schedule isn’t out yet.
Edit: Looking at the ride rock creek date on the uci site it looks like monster pro dh is the continental series or a part of it.
And im guessing that ixs is too for europe.
