Save that garbage for Instagram.
As for all the other "rumours" I'm seeing here, you're all off base on guesses. Well...except OneGhost. I think my guy is playing poker and throwing all of you off with some serious fibs.

Maybe industry people that actually know what TF is going on should either keep to yourself or at least drop some vague hints to foster the process w/o spilling the beans. These strange interweb flexing posts that equate to "nah nah, Im friends with all the riders and I know; but you don't! nah nah" seem a bit odd. Is that really what FSA wants their marketing manager to be doing?
Young Oli Davis Stocks are up, 2 great results and now P6 in quali. The Union doing it's thing again nurturing talent. He is a Dean Lucas prodigy, so seeing Dean in a management/development role could be a thing in the future after his declared retirement today.

Didn't they drop riders under contract previously?
And on more than one occasion too. We know of the big names (i.e. Aaron Gwin) but I wonder how many other not-so-famous athletes around the world got the shaft.
From how I heard it it doesn't seem like this year is the last for Greg-O but its def on his mind. I've no inside info but that was my personal take from the Wyn interview. Jacko is the new leader of that team anyway.

not exactly, gwin‘s contract was being up and they during the beginning of his last year and YT signaled that everything will be fine and he shouldn‘t worry about it. then bang they dropped/didn’t extend him.
dak and dave trummer where still under contract when YT pulled the plug on supporting elite riders. to me they are just a marketing firm with solid bikes after all that nonsense. i mean, now that they‘re back they‘re promoting the motto „live uncaged“… what utter BS!

On the Downtime podcast they were speculating that Gwin might be retiring and that Greg wants to keep the "most male DH WC wins" (22 wins) and so might be more likely to retire if Aaron does (20 wins).

I don't see Aaron retiring without at least attempting a full season on good tires and on an ok-to-good frame. Would be the first time since the YT days for him. I could see him returning next year, getting on the box a couple times and retiring after that. Wins will be very hard for him and Greg to come by in 2024 and beyond with this new younger class of riders pushing the limits of speed and safety.
Also, will add that Gwin has always been a businessman and has always maximized his income (to his detriment many times) during his career. (I'm not hating on that at all.) If he's still making anywhere near his max earnings from a couple years ago, he's still pulling down $400-600k+ a year. No way he's just going to 'retire' and throw that salary away if he's still competitive and has something to prove (which he does after this year). Same for Greg--these guys are collecting huge checks, why retire and lose $300k+ yearly incomes if you're still relevant. I think they will stop when the training to be relevant becomes too much (maybe Greg is there) or their results are faltering so badly they don't want to tarnish their images.
Whatever Specialized is doing they need to copy them, out of their three riders they all have podiums and two have wins just this year. You have other teams struggling to get one rider into finals.
I just struggle to see where the companies are seeing racing budgets translate into DH bike sales. How many people are buying a DH bike because someone just won a race on it? At least around me at local DH races the majority of the guys are riding what bike frames they get a discount on through a buddies shop or a shop they put on their jersey.
You may see more bike sales form seeing Tahnee on Instagram riding a Canyon trail bike that more people are the demographic for, so the racing is more a means to exposure for the athletes.
Hell half of the bikes on the podiums are prototypes that will never exist anyways, (the Intense maybe will)

The purpose of DH racing isn't to sell dh bikes. It is for general marketing and to sell mid to high level trail and Enduro bikes.

I would have to say it is a test bed for new products and suspension theories / designs. Look at specialized, pivot, and intense, all on proto bikes / suspension layouts that will most likely make there way onto enduro bikes as well.

Hard to support international racing if you aren’t selling bikes.
I think bike companies need to offer something more than a few percentage points of bike performance if they want to sell bikes to the average committed enthusiast who owns a bike made in the last 3-5 years or the average once a month biker who owns a bike made in the last 8 to 9 years. Resale value is terrible currently and gone are the days of significant improvement to geo and parts quality by upgrading your 1-3 year old bike. And for the guy who isn’t that serious his 2016 mtb is still pretty dang good.
sure there will always be that crowd that buys a new model every year. But simply gone are the days where a brand new bike is going to significantly improve your riding experience versus ever so slightly change it unless you are riding something clapped out or very outdated.
personally I think brands really need to make an effort to improve the bike owning experience. I have no reason to upgrade my spire at the moment. But I’d sell it in a heart beat and buy a new bike if say a trek would throw in a couple years of maintenance at my lbs and parts warranties. But a slash with an idler and a slightly improved fork is just not a big enough change to my bike owning experience for me to justify the costs.

Well said, anytime I am on a lot of these sites mainly the other bike site it just feels like the industry is pushing trying to sell us shit that they say is an improvement or it just looks cool but I think people are over the bike industry trying to invent new ways to make money off of us. Like you said the bikes are really good now and there is such marginal gains compared to bikes from a couple years ago.
I think another huge issue in the bike industry is the amount of buddy deals and bike shop discounts that get handed out. I know so many people that are just recreational riders that maybe use to work in the industry or have a buddy that does that get 50%+ off discounts on loads of brands or guys that know a guy and gets frames at cost. So all that cost has to get passed on to the Joe Blow consumer.
🤔🤔
I’m a fan first, marketing person second.

My joke went south. Sorry brother. I know you aren't misleading anyone.
I forget the internet is not for inside jokes.
All the feels bro. ✌🏽🤙🏽🫶🏽
Managed to get the L's mixed up.
The WynTV with GM was well worth a watch... maybe it does mean he is seriously considering retiring.

Hall Lock lujah!
Again, I'll see myself out.

Sounds like YT in for the long run?

YT Mob will still have good presence in 2024

I could totally see Greg retire but still have an implication in the syndicate/industry (or another team) à la Steve Peat
Katy Winton’s Instagram seemingly confirming the GT Factory Racing rumours
Sounds like she’ll be moving away from full time enduro racing.
