T-MAC getting his new canyon gap sent, this thing looks sooo damn skinny and exposed! T-Mac has another huge, technical drop in his line as well, we're thinking he could be on for a result if he links his tricks together tomorrow...
Bienve came up short on his canyon hip, T-MAC and Isted both struggling to slow down after their canyon, Brendog connecting the dots on The Rock...it's all happening. The level of gnar just went through the roof!
BFC is the gnarliest single feature on the hill for my money. TMac lookin sooo smooth on it too. Thinking out loud: if he could sui the BFC, flip-nac at the bottom, and grease everything else... he could win Rampage.
Chelsea Kimball's line was, to my eye, one of the most unique in the women's field. Really disappointed she couldn't quite nail it for the finals. But Robin Goomes crushed it. Very deserving winner, IMO.
And now, to put things in perspective...here's the Rampage segment from Alex Rankin's Sprung 5 movie from 2001. Not a single watered and slapped landing in sight (not many landed moves either LOL LOL):

Cool to see how much of the terrain and features differentiate from '01. Also really fun to see how much the bikes themselves have progressed since that point.
i prob tell this story every year, but i went out there in '01 to film and left after the first practice day b/c i thought for sure someone would die. it was terrifying. von williams rolling up to the main drop of the day and slapping into a trials hop off the clif was the sickest. and lance canfield. he was right at home.

I was there in the mid 2010s and when I think back now, it still seems surreal to see in person. The starting height vs the bottom is just nuts and how soft the dirt is... they do some insane stuff.
found this sequence pulled from a MiniDV capture that day in 2001 of lance canfield. he sent it that day. apparently putting lots of text/info on the photo was cool in '01 too 🤣 then a shot of shandro 2003 (film camera) and then strait in 2004 (i think, maybe 2005). sven and i rented a 300 2.8 and 400 2.8 lens that year. i had a crappy walmart tripod and the 400 2.8 was so heavy it buckled the tripod LOL. strait shot is with that lens. good times in the dirt. hoping everyone stays safe tomorrow!
If I don’t pay attention to Rampage I’m okay with it, but when I do check out the vids of the build up I get sick to my stomach. It’s so fucking gnarly! Too fucking gnarly, honestly.

Talus Turk with the slooooow backflip...
On board for the women's winning run!
Mashup madness!!!! It's getting burly out there!! 😱 😱 😱

POV of Tom Isted taking on the "BFC" (we won't spell out the acronym here but it's easy to guess 😉 ):
Another angle of Bienve coming up short on his canyon hip. So glad he's mostly OK!
Another view of the BFC. This will never look normal...

Incredible Strait is still at it, 24 years later

That might be the wildest bicycle clip I've ever seen
Here it is, the properly formatted version of the massive-est Rampage hits so far 🙂
This is Isteds forst rampage right? Also that gap of Bienve’s looks wild too. It’s shorter but similar height? Wild stuff.
Rampage build-up with Bienve - good to see him walk away from that case, we can't wait to see him put down a run on this wild line:
