I hate to laugh but... This looks straight outta cinema. The slo mo really seals it. I need to re-edit this to dramatic music.

I'd vote for Yakety Sax or Flight of the Bumblebee but that's just me (and props to Blevs for keeping it upright!)

Isn't there supposed to be some oversight/consulting w/ the technical delegates on course construction, including site visits, leading up to the race or is that just for DHI?

Seems like removing and routing around major technical features because weather wasn't factored in (in the Alps!!) is a pretty big fail...

Dirt roadies is a joke. I’m assuming everyone here knows how good they all are at riding mountain bikes!

Any word on whether the top 10 rider at the 36 minute mark of the men's Elite race did indeed shatter his jaw as Carlson yells whoa and turns around to keep the stoke going as he's signaling directly to Josh that "I need help!!!" as he lies broken on the dividing line/boulder wall between A & B line?

That was awful looking.  Heal up sir!

def lost a tooth. i think its tough when he wishes to raise legitimate concerns about the course in terms of the precedent. but... despite the precedent, the other riders are making those sections. not sure if he was the only 'serious' injury of the week.

and it also ties into the B line thing, which I believe there was one for this. If you chose to ride that to save time cuz it was needed to win and weren't capable when everyone else was... Thems the breaks.

I'm also blown away Pidcock, the guy most made fun of for being a roadie, stomped everyone? And technical wizards like Nino and Blevins fell behind a bit. Almost makes the case even worse for 'the course being too hard'. Not sure. Again not saying he doesn't have a legit claim, particularly if backed by 50+% of the field, but if we changed DH courses every time a rider got injured on a section we would end up riding a fire road down...

I dont think the course was too technical, i just dont think they should line those sections with rock walls. Theyd have more line options if they left that boulder field open without the rock barriers. The technicality would still be there, which is great in mtb, but those inbedded rock walls are unnecessary hazards, excessive consequences

Pidcock (reigning Cx and Olympic xc champion) is widely regarded as the best decender in the peleton and an incredible bike handler. Not sure anyone is making fun of him.
They took the road gap out at Vallnord where Camille wrecked herself. They cancelled the entire Junior race at Loudenville.
I think the point is that penalty for failure shouldn't be an injury caused by a badly designed feature.Max's front wheel slipped and sent him offline......in a narrow runout lined by massive boulders.......which he hit with his face. Did the boulders add to the technical difficulty of the section or just make it more dangerous?

The Carlson clip was cringe watching it live. I commented somewhere that the boulder walls were gonna catch someone but no pleasure in being right about it.
Grinch is right about the punji walls of stone not needing to be there. Could simply have left it a free for all like the one descent.

Not even DH racers want to sprint uphill, lungs in your eyeballs and huck a peaked rock slab w/ no back side at 2mph. Oh…and do it 7 times getting progressively more tired and the rocks getting more peanut buttery.

That was Hard Enduro

Wonder who the trapped rider was on last lap that forced the whole section to be shut down. Looked to be a victim of the boulder punji wall too

Just found out Italian moto doesn’t allow tear offs so guys run this cable that the tear off is supposed to stay attached to and dangle off the back. Can you imagine if you have to do this on a DH race?

Good, the sooner tear offs are banned all round the better. And when a company gets round to making a remote roll off system loic can have an extra button on his bar

Just had a look at the upcoming Combloux EDR schedule and absolutely can't understand why they did plan the EDR and open EDR races on Friday?!?
Why not racing on Saturday since it's not a shared disciplines event and there absolutely noting on schedule that day and e-EDR races on Sunday.
The only explanation i can see is to give a rest day to EDR racers so they would race e-EDR on Sunday so e-EDR could have the focus they hope instead of EDR.

I don't have any precise details but my guess is that the MB Race is planned on the same week-end, nearly at the same place (Megève). Some infrastructures seem to be shared by both events organizers.

You're right, Saturday will see the marathon races including the UCI Marathon World Cup round. So that's why.

Maribor has hosted World Cup DH, World Cup ski racing, and Europa Cup ski racing (which is the feeder series to the world cup). I don't think the venue has an issue holding expensive events. I would guess this is specific to the iXS cup, and that the venue isn't forecasting a good return on this particular event. In short the UCI could do more to prop up their feeder series, especially if their long term plan is smaller World Cups.

Sounds like the city government / tourism board pulled the funding for the event so the race organiser wasn't going to make ends meet. Hence the cancelation.

I was there last weekend...they don't have enough tourists during week days. Gondola operates from 10am to 7pm but between 10am - 2pm they do only one run per our. After 2pm they do continuous runs. The trails are really nice, the red trail that starts from the top needs some serious work but the rest of them are in good conditions. Also the other cable car that was opened this year operates only on Saturday - Sunday. There are two new trails. Maribor has potential but they need more advertising and maybe some new trails or a way to connect the gondola with the new cable car. The distance between these 2 locations is about 6km. Anyway... Slovenia rocks!!!

USA Cycling Unveils Paris 2024 Olympic Kits

The Olympic Kit from CUORE Unites All Five USA Cycling Olympic Disciplines

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – June 26, 2024 – This summer, the best cyclists in the world will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and USA Cycling’s Performance Apparel Partner, CUORE of Switzerland, will outfit the USA Cycling athletes.

USA Cycling is proud to debut the new Olympic team kit for the upcoming Paris Olympics. This year, the team will come together with the same kit design across all disciplines, uniting American cycling on the world's largest stage.

"The unveiling of the kit marks a significant milestone in the team's journey as they come together to represent the United States at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games," said Jim Miller, Chief of Sports Performance at USA Cycling.

Collaboratively designed by USA Cycling and CUORE, the new kit incorporates the iconic white that debuted at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Designed with both innovation and performance in mind, the kit enables athletes to push their limits without compromising on comfort and optimizes cooling for the hot European summers. The custom detailing includes stars on the sides symbolizing the five disciplines that will be competing in the Olympics - Road, Mountain Bike, Track, BMX Racing, and BMX Freestyle.

With all the athletes wearing the same design in their unique gear, it brings together the new modern era of Olympic sports like BMX Racing, which debuted at Beijing 2008, and BMX Freestyle, introduced at Tokyo 2020, while still honoring its legacy with events such as Road, which have been included in the Olympic programming since the first modern Olympic Games at Athens 1896.

“CUORE of Switzerland is honored to support USA Cycling at every level of competition. The Paris kits represent our team's dedication and commitment to excellence over the past few years,” stated Alex Diaz of CUORE of Switzerland. “The needs of the athletes are at the heart of every product decision we make. Collaborating closely with USA Cycling, we have developed products that deliver exceptional performance while prioritizing athlete comfort, empowering them to achieve their best results.”

CUORE of Switzerland has developed cutting-edge apparel designed to elevate the USA Cycling Olympic team. Utilizing advanced fabrics and design, the new Gold Speed Suit has been tested in the world’s best wind tunnel to achieve optimal performance. In a sport where victories are often decided by mere fractions of a second, CUORE's state-of-the-art gear provides the USA Cycling team with a crucial competitive edge.

I actually want to give money to USA Cycling and I can't. There is absolutely nothing in either of those shop links. Surprised? Nope
