So, they renamed the EWS the EDR and then named the whole thing the Mountain Bike World Series
EDR is not what EWS was. Enduro World Cup is what EWS was. EDR is the discipline. Like XCO and DHI. Last I checked we have national DHI and XCO cups... As in a national (or world for that matter) cup in a given mountain biking discipline. Substitute cup for championships when you want to hand out the rainbows and national sleeves and stuff of course.

Yeah sorry, I know that, I more just was joking that it's a bunch of silly pointless re-branding that's come full circle for the sake of the average Joe/Jane just using a short hand
Hard to tell exactly how to get reliable access to the live stream all season long? I travel a lot for work during summer, so if I get my subscription in Germany to Eurosport, but I'm in Mexico, Abu Dhabi or South Africa for work. What do I do other than get a VPN and risk sh*tty quality?
I fear we are gonna loose a lot of potential new fans as it's gonna be hard to commit to non-global subscription? Hard to know how many "new" fans the sport will get from those who already have Discovery or GCN+?
For those wondering what Red Bull is up to - they have created a three-race urban DH series by bringing together a few legendary events like Valparaiso and Medellin. The first race went down today with Rob Warner, Eliot Jackson, and Wyn Masters holding down the commentary and expert analysis for the live broadcast. Good times! https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/news/results-2023-valparaiso-cerro-abajo-urban-dh-race.
Crankworx stepping up the DH events. Rob and Eliot announcing with more cameras than before. New points structure to win the overall with $10k for the men and women.

The news item about this on PB features a comment section with Dave Trumpore licking some UCI boots. He's straight pumped about the potential to two high-quality downhill series. Little gaslighting by saying he's not going to be negative, so if you're at all skeptical or critical of the UCI's plans for downhill, you're just not as worldly as Trumpore.
Another hot take from one of New England's own DH Bros.

Sure, but he's hardly independent of anything Chris Ball and the UCI do. In fact, he's highly *dependent* on staying in that circle.
I'd say that like the rest of the media squid crew he's probably got a healthy interest in all the race series and the more there are, the more work there is for all of them.
But that's besides the point. He got pounced on because he merely pointed out to the kids below the line at PB that Crankworx races are UCI sanctioned. So are the iXS races for that matter. It's not as divisive as some folks make it.
Matching team jerseys is going to make vital raw look so fucking lame
You think ESO are gonna let VitalRaw contiune ................................................................................ the heavy hand of the law is about to hammer down
I was watching some road race coverage from Lanterne Rouge (if you know, you know), and he's running a quick ad with a 15% off GCN+ annual pass ($50 CAD). I decided to check what the coverage was like this year, because in Canada they usually don't have broadcast rights for all the major world tour races. Browsing the list: BAM all the MTB races are listed. Changed my region to USA and the same thing.
EDR is just the 3 letter acronym for enduro. Downhill is DHI, Cross country XCC, XCO, XCE, XCM...
This is just a short form to appear on results sheets/quickly differentiate between similar disciplines (especially in XC), even the UCI don't refer to downhill solely as DHI, I don't understand why people are getting torn up over it.
£6.99 per month in the UK, or £39.99 for the year (while offer lasts). If I pay monthly just for the months where there are DH races it'll cost just under £35.
I'll probably stump up for June and see how it goes. I'll begrudgingly pay to watch the racing if the coverage is worth it, but my gut feeling is I'll only be laying out for that 1st month.
Not sure were to post it, but someone in the team rumors thread posted the schedule for Lenzerheide and it shows Junior final will be on friday (not sure if it is old news?). I guess it is to have time to run the semifinal on sunday, but it is a huge blow for Junior racers IMO. Their race really is gonna be a second tier event (much more so than now), with a totally different track, less crowd on race day, less coverage, and harder to compare their times with elites'.
New logos/graphics to go with the press release:
UCI sucks.

this is the ESO's rodeo now. UCI just signing off the rule book.

UCI love that.

These guys have ROYALLY cocked up the online rego process for the first two rounds of the EWS or whatever it’s called,
they originally were going live yesterday, then changed to today, then pushed it back an hour, now pushed again to tomorrow!!!!!
not a very good start to a new brand that they are so damn confident with. Fkn hell!

that dude's bread is certainly buttered by those boots...gotta do what you can to stay on the list!

Plot twist in the form of a press release from Red Bull TV/ Rob Warner / Crankworx. Found in a FB post from mtb-mag last night! Sounds neat!

LOL. so far we've heard RAW and "editorial" vids are fine/normal, but there haven't been any official rules laid out yet.

Forgive me if this was obvious, but I don't think I've seen this on either site beyond the fact that many Europeans will have access via Eurosport.
If you're wanting to show up and pay up, I'd recommend taking advantage of the Lanterne Rouge promo:
https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QU…
And only the three enduro events sharing a venue with DH will be televised apparently. Also it says Enduro instead of EDR...

Reading between the lines, here's one of your new commentators for the 2023 World Cup season
