Let's just be clear, when we are talking about Codes not being powerful... Are we talking about Code R or Code RS(C)? Because there is a world of difference between the two.
meh you can talk about ultimates as well, still not that powerful.

meh you can talk about ultimates as well, still not that powerful.
according to this test, all details are in the link, with a given force to the lever equal to every brake in test code rsc were "producing" only 70nm to the rotor, meaning that the ultra powerful maven being 50% stronger would be 105nm, so still less then a direttissima, let alone a maxima. Enduro mtb is working on another of these tests i'm super interested in with the new brakes now on sale.
Weird, I distinctly remember Enduro's test showing Code R and Code RSC/Ultimate having the same braking torque with Code RSC being above both. Which would be logical given the swing link.
It looks like Competitive Cyclist couldn't wait for 8am PST. I snipped this from their website around 8:20am EST.

20th of March, some limited edition red splatter that will come with different size rotors up to 200, they don't recommend 220, 18.5 and 19mm pistons, mineral as we all now, claimed 50% more power than codes, bold statement imo
So they don’t recommend 220 rotors, but they offer them anyway?
Random... @iceman2058 you guys ever consider doing a tools/tech shootout on digital shock pumps & digital pressure gauges?
I don't so much need a competition style format.
But would like to see an article/video combo going over all the in's and outs of them.

i know it's not just brakes, but it's nuts 1k for sram brakes, must be crazy to pay that much for something mass produced, when you can get direttissima brakes, handmade and checked for a tad more, or other options anyway with much higher quality like hope
$599 US.
A little more than half the Direttissima, comes with 4 rotors, two pairs of pads, bleed kit, rotor bag.
Not terrible for high end brakes, but it would take some very impressive performance to make me switch from my DH-R EVOs.

Same was said when Canyon and Commencal started to expand globally in consumer direct.
That said, hopefully shops will begin to evolve their model. How they react to more brands offering consumer direct will determine their futures.
Shops who perform brilliant service will always be in demand. the ski industry is going through the same thing. And if you ride a moto, you’ve been in this world for a while. When the service sucks, you just don’t even go near it; and tell all your buds and ladies to watch out.
i think it’s pretty easy to identify that customer base, as a shop owner, see your profit and loss and know what you need to do. Finding and employing good techs can be a pain, but hopefully focusing on service and crushing it can leave you in the black.
in my shop we had issues with rent hikes but the retail part was quickly becoming a loss leader in pdx around 2015 ish (commencal, canyon, spesh moving direct bikes, big shops going bigger and locking us out of territory, trek buying bankrupt retailers and flipping them to showrooms) so we leaned in on service and race support with service parts on hand instead of complete bikes. We focused on rapid turnaround and for the pacnw racers and riders it seemed like we killed it.
service is king (and having the wizards and witches who perform it locked in ) in a world of immediate online gratification.
people who buy bikes online will always need a service center. Even you vital retired bike wrenches …..
Find one, support them, and hopefully they have cupcakes or a taco shop next door.
I think these look amazing!
Especially the Glory DH bike.

I have a "form follows function" kind of mind and if there's a change of color without anything in the design that dictates a change of color, it bugs me. So I like my bikes in a plain single color.
And I "hate" it even more when there's a gradient on one hand and a sharp line at the other. My brain is like "Why ? Why did you do it that way ? Did you change your mind as you went along ? Did you run out of paint ?"

New monster Sram brakes? Meh.
Suspension tuner in Nelson BC (Interior suspension) has a couple on order, think $3500CAD.......I'll have to check my prediction from a cople months back. He said he has pre-orders for the next long while all paid for, so if you havent paid into one, expect to wait
Apparently only being built in batches of 5, so very limited quantities

I got a notification that Spomer created a Product Review: Maven Ultimate Expert Kit. Click on it, no authorization. Seems like imminent release.
Looking forward to the sram marketing team's approach to explaining why they went with mineral oil

A “rotor travel bag” is a thing now…?

I believe they don’t suggest dual 220s. Idk rotor bag would be pretty solid for garage storage too.

@Simcik - thanks for letting me know that notification came up. it shouldn't have.
maven kit available directly on sramnation too is pretty interesting - https://sramnation.com/products/sram-maven-limited-brakes
limit one per customer, USA only.
LOL. SRAM has been redoing their shipping and warehouse all year. Why? So they can sell consumer direct. Bye bye Bike shops. This is the end.

i was just thinking the same thing. that's actually not a bad value. i'm tempted to pick one up just for S&G.

Anyone else remember the Brembo prototypes in the mid 2000s? I remember hearing they didn’t go into production because they would cost $600 each.
And LOTUS stands for “ Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious”
Hey @Primoz, You seeing this, and the Slash, and the Druid, Supernaught, and upcoming Dreadnaught, and upcoming Optic?
Just checking in on your prediction of HP idler bikes
This looks better than expected if I'm honest

actually, its 4 pairs of pads (2x sintered, 2x organic) plus all mounting hardware too. couldn't help myself and pulled the trigger.

Thanks, I read that as 2x individual pads.
Again, I have no motivation to move on from the TRPs on all my MTBs, but this is a pretty good value for a top level brake set.
So you’re telling me I need another couple credit cards???
Great to have choice
Is this one of the new Renthal colours I’ve been hearing about.
Or is it just an OE bar thats been reused on this build?
