It’s been five years since we first discovered the range of toolboxes available from Birzman, and in that time we’ve put in many good hours continuing to use them both in the shop and on the road. The ergonomics of the tools as well as their longevity have turned them into trustworthy companions, but with evolving standards comes the need for new tools. For 2019, Birzman has revised the selection featured in its big Studio toolbox, intended for advanced home mechanics or those looking for a comprehensive mobile workshop solution. We took delivery of a first sample a couple of months ago, read...
The Maha floor pump from Birzman has been around for a few years, and we’ve always enjoyed both its good looks and its performance. For 2017, the Maha was given a new head, to make switching between valve types a bit easier and to make attaching and detaching the head in general a bit more convenient. Read on to find out what these changes have translated to in the workshop. Birzman Maha Push & Twist Highlights Wood handle CNC'd aluminum chamber and base New Push & Twist head design 120psi (8.3 bar) capacity MSRP: $100 USD Initial Impressions The Maha makes quite a first impression, with its...
Howdy Vital MTBers, let's take a look at Birzman's latest floor pump, the Maha Push and Twist MTB pump. The Maha features a screw-on wood handle, CNC'd aluminum chamber and sturdy aluminum three-legged base. As we expect from Birzman, the pump features clean, classy anodizing on the pump head and refined details like the wood-burned logo on the pump's handle. Now when we first set the pump down, we kept thinking there was something stuck beneath the pump as it sat visually crooked. Well, it is crooked. Birzman has built in a 5-degree angle to the chamber to make pumping action a little more...
Tools. There’s a good chance we’re as picky about our bikes and parts as we are the tools we use to work on them. And when it comes to professional-level, high-dollar tools such as a truing stand, there hasn’t been much competition in the market. We’ve all become accustomed to what’s available and usually brush off anything new that may or may not be a viable contender. When Birzman recently launched their truing stand, the first thing we thought was “does the big blue finally have some competition?” So, in the name of science, and bike mechanics around the world, we put one to the test...
Review by Johan Hjord // Photos by Nils Hjord and Johan Hjord Tools can literally make or break your wrenching experience. Having the right tool for the job at hand can easily mean the difference between heading out on your next ride and heading to the shop with stripped bolts, leaking brake lines, and a red face. Most serious riders probably have a decent collection of essential tools in their garage/man cave/backseat, but more often than not, it will be a hodgepodge selection of tools acquired over the years as and when the need arose. Birzman knows the pain of not having the right selection...
by Brandon Turman As we've written before, Birzman tools combine good looks, clean design, and clever innovation that make working on your bike a more pleasurable experience. The statement certainly applies to their high-end hand tools, but what of their new Maha Apogee floor pumps? Could the already relatively simple task of pumping up a tire be made even easier? Let's take a look at Birzman's answer to that question. Maha Apogee MTB Pump Highlights MTB specific high volume track pump design Pump tilts towards the user providing unparalleled ergonomic comfort Stable aluminum alloy base with...
