Another week, another world cup DH! "Let's Get" some Les Gets.
Not wanting to be too stressed about this, but UCI posted the entry list and dak and breeden are not on it. is it just an early entry list? i assumed once the entry PDF was published, entries were closed. please tell me that's incorrect.
entry list as of Sept 5 at 10am cali time - https://chronorace.blob.core.windows.net/webresources/20230907_mtb/entr…
Something tells me that wasn't an oversight and part of the new points system they implemented. I hope this isn't the case though.
I don't believe it would have anything to do with the UCI Points system as they are on a factory team and don't need to rely on UCI points to race...
Fingers crossed its just an early list that is not complete...I know one US Junior that is there to race and is not included on the entries either.
Looks like Daprela is out for the rest of the season with a broken scaphoid from the crash last weekend. According to his Instagram.
Beat me to it.
Thibaut's GoPro video from his finals run:

Besides, Dak received 210 points on Sunday.
sucks thibaut's out! he bottoms his fork out 3 times in a row and that 3rd time blows his hand off. can you imagine the forces going on? i bet his fork is hardly squishable in the pits and he had a triple bottom!
Bummer he's out. Such an entertaining rider to watch.
The weather's looking a bit more settled this week, so fingers crossed everything stays on schedule.
Oof Commencal MucOff is now down to one junior rider.
The online registration deadline was yesterday. If they or their team missed the deadline I think they can still register before the rider confirmation deadline, but they have to pay a 300 Euro fine. I don't know when the confirmation deadline is.
Rule 4.9.005
Late entries from UCI ELITE MTB TEAMS, UCI MTB TEAMS, national federations and riders are refused unless authorised and subject to compliance with provisions for participation as well as payment of a fine of EUR 300.
Late entries are entries handled after the on-line registration deadline and before the riders’ confirmation deadline. Passed [sic] the riders’ confirmation deadline late are not considered.
thanks @Red Number 3 - i hope they're in! just checked pdf and it's still the same (not really a surprise as it's been late in europe for a while now). curious if that pdf will update or if it will just be qualifying start times later on. the live timing link for les gets isn't live yet, so maybe that only goes live after registration is fully closed.
Final confirmation happens Wednesday morning

Maybe they moved deadline. Wyn mentioned a jr from us shows up last week and they had decided to close registration even though it was not supposed to be closed yet. I don’t trust anything they are doing and will expect something fuckery every race at this point.
It was a first year Elite from the USA, Bodie Heflin. See Rooted MTB's post halfway down this page:
https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/hub/free-live-racing-race-talk-loudenvi…
Utter bullshit that they can move a schedule forward and just expect everyone to already be on site ready to practice despite being before the scheduled track walk. I guess I'm not too surprised after listening to Chris Ball talk on the Downtime Podcast earlier this year and how he was aiming to make DH an elite limited racer TV package but still a little perplexed there have been so many large changes (Semi-Finals in particular) in the first year when he said something to the effect of "move towards our goal slowly over the next few years but nothing drastic this year." If his words are to be believed they plan to make extreme changes by the time their takeover is complete.
Austin of Rooted MTB is a cool cat and it really sucks to hear that despite his team's best efforts and following of the rules/schedule they were left out of the race. What's the point of a schedule and how can non-euro privateers ever justify attending these races if it's liable to get bumped forward an entire day because a chance it may rain in a couple days?? The UCI has allowed ESO to rip the heart of the sport out in just single season. The ESO, Enduro Sports Organization, have set up a whole ton of barriers and seemed to intentionally change rules, withhold schedule changes, increased fees, etc. in order to reduce non-paid-professional racers from competing at World Cup events.
^ @adamdigby It looks like Bodie Heflin got registered for Les Gets, so hopefully things will go well for him this week.
"If his words are to be believed".
That's a massive "if".
Heard Hatton is out this week too.
booo if hatton is out. so juniors are on track right now but no DH start list for elites yet. usually it's out by now. "coming soon" according to someone on the ground.
Bummer.
On the other hand, it's crazy he wasn't hurt worse. I hurt myself just watching that crash.
les gets schedule
dylan maples getting commencal muc-off support!

might explain the awkward "Privateer Award" interview from Wyn. "We're giving you a mechanic and accomadations. Yayyyy you!" and Maple's was like "Ummm"
Yeah he was already getting support from Commencal for being a Commencal USA rider
There was a post recently (that I can't find) saying that the elite teams needed to field at least one rider at each round or they would lose their status. I was assuming that after Thibault was ruled out for the rest of the season, meaning all of the Muc-Off elite riders are out with injury, they picked up Maples to fill that spot.
But since he would not have known about this at the end of race day last weekend, we would need a new explanation for the interview
track POV from gamux jr.
I posted that. Commencal still has Hugo Marini in jrs on the team. They kept Gaetan Ruffian on the roster as well even though he hasn’t raced for a couple years. I assumed they brought Dylan up for the mentoring and experience of being on a top as well as trying to salvage some points for the team overall
Chris Hauser's POV
junior practice youth gone wild vid from today. loose, dusty, fast!
