Manufacturers maybe? I don't think many people who ride or watch other forms of racing are too interested.
I was just in Bentonville, Arkansas this past weekend. The self proclaimed "Mountain Bike Capital of the World". The mix on the trails was about 80% E-Bike. And to be fair an E-bike is absolutely the right tool for the job for the majority of the trail hubs.
The industry sees the writing on the wall. Long travel bikes without motors are a terrible purchase for almost anyone, but a motor bike with a 170mm Coil and 180mm up front and you have a party machine that can get you anywhere.
There will always be bicycles for those who enjoy the suffer-fest, but these use cases are better served under 150mm of travel.
E-Enduro sounds terrible to me, but I don't see Enduro bikes being made very near in the future.
Just wait till the tech starts rolling in for 3rd party batteries and battery chargers that are better than stock. And then we'll have a rash of people burning their houses down and starting forest fires with their overclocked batteries that decide to go terminal mid Strava KOM.
I hate it, but my next bike and my wife's next bike will both be e-bikes.
Spent the weekend with a high level US Pro rider and got a little insight into the Yeti DH development. 2025 looks to be the target date for a full blown WC DH program.

It's 100% the UCI not wanting to lose the rights to what could very well become a huge race format as more and more people buy mopeds. They are just interested in having the whole pizza rather than fighting for a slice. If it doesn't pan out... Fuck it, and move on just like what they are doing to the EDR currently. If you can't find the answer to why something is being done... Follow the money and you will find your answer.
Most national level Enduro racing is already leaps and bounds better racing than the EDR events because of what the UCI has done to it... They are moving on and so should we. Just because Enduro is going to die by the hands the UCi doesn't mean it's dead anywhere else.

can 90% confirm no EDR in 2025 as it will all be E-EDR. DH will be top 15 teams only. Fees went through the roof to register for '24. A trade team is now 11,500 Euro and a non-trade team will be 5500 Euro.
I just don't get this move to all E-EDR. I don't know anyone who is asking for this...
it's honestly hilarious that a complete move to e enduro would even been considered. On race day the e bike races are an extreme side show to the actual race, which in turn is a sideshow to the dh/xc races. no racing fan has ever given a shit about e-bike racing, even with the proliferation of ebikes these days
I just wonder if the UCI is trying to lock down e-bike racing "just in case" it gets big. The GNCC's here in the U.S. have ebike racing and maybe they don't want the AMA to get that large slice of the pie? No idea, I think it has a place and will just take time to get the correct format.
Enduro on non-ebikes will continue to do well at the regional level. It is a great participation sport, not a great spectator sport.

I'm still convinced the exodus of teams is due to this being a fact rather than a rumor. Look at Ibis, just released a new enduro race bike and then quits the sport? Hmmm...

really hope she finds something because she’s a friggin race winner but with the way EDR is being flushed down the shitter by its organizers right now who knows

The way that's worded it sounds like she didn't know what the "performance expectations" were, which seems super-weird to me...
Sitting here in a shoulder sling for 6 weeks of rotator cuff surgery healing and getting bummed out that human powered sport is dying at the hands of greedy capitalists who realized they can monopolize free internet content with enough money, regulation & moped batteries.

What more could they have asked of her? She performed well.
Top 3 overall.
Podiums at multiple rounds.
More social media presence.
Who knows? They do.
Brands expect a ROI, this is especially difficult in sport that increasingly less people watch or care about.
She certainly won't alone in not having a ride in '24.

I don't blame the UCI/WB for this one. The cat got out of the bag when we allowed mopeds on the trails. Just wait until multi-use trails start banning mtb. I'm already hearing grumblings from non-bikers about the "dangerous e-bikes".
Bex one of many a rider this year without a renew for a ride in 2024.
if a rider can quantify their value and return to a brand then they will do well. That doesn’t necessarily mean race results.
sports teams and athletes are all for marketing, and a self employed rider not gaining a contract is no different to any other line of work where someone doesn’t get a contract renewed or signed.
this is the working world it happens every day to all types of people, you just don’t hear about it on social media or a vlog 🤷
Other than RR, did anyone on Yeti do as well as Bex last season?
I believe the only other non-ebike enduro racer for Yeti last season was Slawomir Lukasik. He hasn't announced he was dropped, but he's not a known name and is probably just getting his gear and travel paid for (AKA cheap to have on roster). Bex on the other hand, probably was demanding a real contract/salary. Maybe they hired her with expectation of multiple podiums and top 3 overall and she didn't hit that mark. And given the state of the market, they're cutting her contract just to be able to afford Ritchie and maybe pay for the new DH racer that is rumored.
Would be interesting to know if she was on a 1 or 2 year deal. If 1 year, they have every right to not re-sign. If a 2-year deal and they canned her over 'performance reasons' it would be interesting to know which were not met. Was it racing or social media, or both.
Also, for her to post that on Instagram she knows she's flaming them and burning that bridge. Not a great look when begging other teams with no money to hire you.

I don't think she is flaming them. There's no invective. Sounds like she is simply saying what happened, and if that reflects poorly on Yeti I think that's Yeti's problem. Canning the 5th overall for "performance expectations" seems like a bullshit line.
Also, I don't think a rider expecting to be paid rises to the level of "demanding." Maybe that's not how you meant it.

on hard enduro events like erzberg, where are usually the people watching the race? more on the downhills oder more on the uphills? go figure

was anyone asking for EWS? Looks like the same thing to me: pushing a race series for the bikes they want to sell...
Remember UCI is only for rule enforcement, anti doping and legislative work within the cycling disciplines.
the change on EDR is purely from WBD
Chris ball sold out and killed what he created 💰 💰 💰
2025 will be the turning point for MTB racing as we know it
Elite vs non. These are just the numbers I was given. They may not be the most accurate.
Boy, this thread seems to have strayed off-topic a bit. Isn't there a racing rumors thread that is better for all the racing talk?
The big jump happened this season '23, lifted from another site.
There is a forum for racing talk, called Racing Talk. I don’t know if there’s a channel for discussing e-bike sales.
Gwin did podcast with the other site. 44 minutes long. I bet there’s some gems in there.
he’s also on the latest downtime podcast.
What has six faces and twelve edges? Don't get it wrong or I'll tell your friends you blewitt.
Really rolling the dice on that one.
cube?
Blewitt to Cube
Was Dick with Neko at Station MTB Park too?
I wasn’t at the Station event. Out at Spider.
