I’ve tried the 246 on a custom sender and those things are wildly powerful. I’m putting them on my trail bike as soon as I make the adapters for it

Neko said his swing arm is based very closely on the session for the integration of the idler pulley.

There have been some rumblings from the high altitude. A new batch of dentists hitting clinics this year, mostly from unexpected places . Prepare to have your monsterous teeth pulled!

I see there is a press release from Leatt regarding their partnership with the Pivot Factory Team.
Maybe sometime in the future Leatt can open up and tell us why World Cup riders don't use neckbraces anymore...
Does anybody ride with a neckbrace these days? I mean, like, ANYBODY?

I remember reading an article on Pinkbike a while back, where a Doctor stated that using neck braces is actually (in some cases) exposing riders to a higher risk of a neck injury.

But the main reason why riders don’t use them anymore is because with longer bikes and steep tracks they cannot bend their neck back far enough in order to look ahead.

I liked my neck brace, but it was super uncomfortable for that reason

Astars is launching offroad air vest setups that include neck protection for moto this year(previously they were mostly intended for sportbike/motoGP.) I wonder if we'll see that in the WC soon. https://www.advrider.com/alpinestars-launches-new-tech-air-airbag-syste…

203mm is the standard. 200mm is just SRAM and should die!
203mm is 8" so if you want to blame anyone, blame America 😂

Laurie Greenland stopped wearing his when he went to a longer bike for that exact reason.

I think Specialized Gravity is managed by Loic's mechanic. Might be something related their budget. But I saw that Izabela was in US for the team camp with Loic, Finn and Chris. I think she has factory support but she is in the development team...

Leatt braces were significantly noticable and limiting. One might argue the sport is too demanding to have those kinds of limitations. The obvious trade off being the risk of neck injury. Also was a bit of an eye sore.

I think racers didn't acknowledge it because why would you openly taunt the bike gods stating "I don't need that protection!"

When I stopped wearing mine, I shifted to a chest protector and have been so lucky to have it on in the many crashes I had and continue to have.

Seems like quite a few of the WC are doing so as well in recent years, along with elbow pads which were taboo for so long.

I'm don't remember where I heard this, so I can't say it's 100% accurate. But I remember hearing that neck braces can also increase the risk of breaking your collar bone because of how the brace sits on your shoulders.

That might be one reason that WC riders don't wear them. The risk of neck injury is lower than the risk of a broken collar bone, and a broken collar bone would put them out for a good chunk of the season if not all of it.

But, a busted collar bone is rarely a career ending or life altering type of injury... However, there is some interesting interviews with Ryan Hughes regarding the neck braces in the SX/MX side of things where the limitations of movement causing more crashes...

Don’t forget some riders were trying to get around required spine protection at races. I wonder sometimes if they worry about long term injuries that could be prevented.

It's a comfort thing. I smashed my cheekbone In the summer of 2022 and since then only wore a full face helmet last year on the France trip, because I had to for the two races where it was mandatory. And I don't race Slovenian enduro races because it's mandatory, but I would had a half shell been enough. Similarly, since megavalanche required elbow pads, I bought thing neoprene "rash guards" to be at least somewhat compliant if there were any checks as I'm not used to riding with elbow pads.

Wearing a full face at the time of the crash would likely prevent an operation and two titanium plates (arguably the neck might suffer more, as the face is an effective crumple zone...), but I still hate the feeling and impracticality of it in daily riding. Not riding it means I'm not used to it and it makes me slower.

I do wholeheartedly admit it's a getting used to it thing. If it was mandatory everywhere, people would get used to it eventually.

man, I thought I was alone with a cheekbone smash. I hit a tree after a big rock roller and ended up only hitting my face on the tree during an OTB. Freak accident.

I had 2 plates put in my orbital and maxilla, and I was wearing a TLD D3. all of my friends I was with all asked if goggles would have helped and I personally dont think so with the velocity I was carrying.

I cant even imagine going through what I went through without a fullface on. Props man. I feel like a fullface might have helped but I am not a doctor.

Now I dont like riding as much without a fullface.

Oh, standard riding sunglasses (clear lens, but besides the point) definitely spared my eye so I got through with zero damage to it (other than slight double vision due to a fractured frontal process of the zygomatic pulling on the muscle of the eyeball a bit) as it was scratched up right over the eye. Sure, the glasses caused additional 5 stitches as they cut me on the nose and the cheek, but it's a small price to pay for a functioning eyeball Smile

My plates hold together the Maxilla, right by the nose.

It did have an effect on my psychology, but not to a point where I'd reach for a full face.

Back to rumors!!
