I wonder if he’s referring to the Foon skis he is taking a picture of on his feet? They are a BC ski maker.
Could also be those. But maybe not just those.

Zink throwing shade at YT.

Seing this it looks to me like they stopped paying their riders. Covid hit so let‘s stop the payments.

I never said RB didn't benefit from the exposure. They did, of course, as they are strengthening their image through that. But what would Ramapge be without Red Bull? What was Freecaster like or who would do DH WC streams if there wasn't Red Bull? Rocky Roads?

My point was that Red Bull made MTB much more popular with the general public (though the part of the public that is partial to extreme sports) that might otherwise hardly know MTB exists as a sport. Because it's present on their site, platform, social media, etc., through their marketing.

I was told that MTB would still be a very niche sport without Red Bull involvement by a friend, who works in marketing and did a thorough market research into the mountain bike market and it seems far from an unreasonable claim.
Did your friend do any market research prior to 2000, when mtb was regularly on public broadcast tv and much more in the mainstream than today? There's no doubt mtb went through a publicity slump earlier this millennium, but that just made it an undervalued asset ripe for a motivated business to leverage profit off a lesser investment.

The smartest marketing move in the mtb sport when you are not changing teams.

Sam hill not only wins races, he wins the internet.
$5 Dollarbucks he's still chilling at home this year, the way WA travel restrictions are.

Still prefer Sam Hill's trolling to endless "Let me black out the frame I'm riding next year until I get enough youtube/insta likes".

Maybe he's trolling them instead.

Kolb was on the up, shame he goes to Atherton. He'll go nowhere on that team.

i also think that MS Mondraker is very possible for him. MS being an austrian team and he is good friends with former rider Markus Pekoll. And they have an open spot...

Time will tell!

Wasn't it obvious that it was a troll....?

No mention of goodbyes, exciting times/announcements ahead etc.

I can't believe people actually thought otherwise

2020 has been the most successful year in YT company history. Number are online if you know where to look.

To me this is just an unprofessional statement from a guy I once had tons of respect for, but who is now beyond his peak and probably pissed that he may not be getting the same contract he's held in more successful years.

Of course I do not know any facts but his tone is just inappropriate.

The same with Silva who recently posted a meme on instagram complaining about the bike industry pushing their money to youtubers instead of "shredders". The kid has mad skills but do these guys really not get that they are paid by the brand to promote the brand and not just to have a good time?

You literally have no clue if YT was pulling something shady like not honoring their contracts and stiffing their riders. Which would be especially harsh given the "most successful year ever" status. Cam Zink is not some punk kid, he understands how this industry works and has split amicably from countless companies over the years. For him to be acting like this they must have done something pretty crappy.

i've heard on multiple forums now that YT is having difficulty sourcing parts to fulfill warranty claims. wonder if these items are somehow related.

Yeah that’s nothing new for YT. They took 2 full months to warranty one of my buddys cracked rear triangles and 7 months to warranty another buds frame that came with the bearings pressed into the frame at the wrong angle making them impossible to remove (he even tried using a hydraulic press/puller at an automotive shop and they wouldn’t budge

I think it’s starting to become common knowledge that YTs don’t hold up under hard/heavy riders. Last year (2019)highland bike park was full of em and this past year I’ve seen significantly less with commencal, specialized, and Santa Cruz nomads all taking over

Didn't he badmouth Corsair when he left and did the same again with Evil? Don't get me wrong, he might have legitimate concerns here, but if you are doing this every time you change sponsors then it is a little weird.

He's also in the middle of a divorce so perhaps that's contributing to his mood?

I will step in here since this is starting to spiral a bit.

Cam's comment had nothing to do with YT. This was one rider making a joke with another rider. Silva was flossin' his new sponsor (Michelin) while blatantly covering up the frame of a former sponsor. Cam made a joke with his former teammate and buddy. Nobody is mad at anybody Cool

I remember something happening with Felt. That was back in my Ridemonkey days, he even created a RM account to get on the forum and "clear things up."
