I was checking out stuff on the DVO website and saw the new Opal inline shock. They have sizes up to 230x65 so I'll be curious to see how it compares to a big inline shock like the Cane Creek DB air inline on an enduro bike.

CC Db IL is the best shock i've used, it felt better than most of the coil shocks i rode. If it can compare to that it's a good shock

Finn’s bike? Definitely carbon tubes then, not sure about the lugs, maybe printed?

edit: actually the lugs look welded or cnc’d with rivets through them and the carbon tubes? And that rubber band at joint?

Where are you guys seeing this? All I see is a toptube.

The post has been deleted. By the poster I assume. It wasn't me.

Looks like quite a big negative chamber ala Meg-neg (although it could just as easily be the positive chamber)

I personally think it's a frankenshock, made with parts from a couple different shocks

Thought of that too but check out the seal head area. On the old vivid airs there was a BB tool interface. Here it is a biiig hex.

Wouldn‘t be surprised if RS brings out a new DH/Enduro air shock and steals all Fox Float X2 OEM sales 😉

All they'd really need to do is make it last more than a few months at a time...

It's Bruni's bike, was taken from his story, and has his LB initial sticker on the front lug.

Aah that makes sense! Still interesting to see a close up of the lugs. I still wonder if that is just a prototyping thing or if they plan to keep it that way?

Exactly, the X2 doesn’t really have a great rep at the moment.

If they can just move the negative chamber port in the vivid so it doesn’t get sucked down and stuck there (have to drill the can to release it!)

I guess the addition of the HBO wouldn’t hurt but probably isn’t necessary if you can add spacers

Id imagine 3m already has the required bonding products and this bike in many ways would be easier to engineer/produce from a skill perspective than layered carbon.  Perhaps specialized is considering new methods of constructing their top of the line Mtb’s.

Seems to be the case, what appeared to me to be the new Enduro had a similar construction with lugs and carbon tubes.

Gonna have to chip in here, last season Loic said (according to Finn) that he didn’t want to switch bikes till racing was wrapped. Also, LB is either an evil bikes update or Loic has tagged his new test sled, which is gonna have to be new demo…..

Loic and ohlins. Loic and spesh. Loic and Finn. Loic and Red Bull. LB.
my question is :: where is the electric speed button from last year? ??

Very likely not the only one, but I don't think it's much of a problem.

As for serial vs. proto, the bonded joint is also riveted together, so even if the bond fails, it's still secured in place and won't cause a destructive failure. Don't see that being used in serial production and don't see lugs like these being used in serial production. Milling them will be a PITA compared to just welding tubes, 3D printing them is a no-go looking at what the Athertons are doing (the dream bike build video), it's simply not scalable. There are possible solutions to it all, talking about serially produced bonded bikes, but I'm not sure how they would work out in the field.

@maximumradness that's very clearly a Loic Bruni LB logo. And a Red Bull helmet. And very clearly the components the Specialized team is running. If it was to be Evil, what are they doing these days at all?

Is it really stealing if no one wants to risk their precious ride time going down the drain waiting for a x2 warranty ??? Repair???? Even the shops have to spend 800 bucks on the special tooling for the x2.

while I don’t know if I want to get back ona. Vivid dh shock (had a couple, def needed rebuilds lots…. Like ummmm my 3 x2’s I’m currently rotating ) but this could be smart of ROCKSHOX to line that up.

“”Little betterer”” it’s an evil thing.

and it’s inconsequential.
cuz : no dh bike, no care.
also, never did get my warranty on my revolt.

Wow....Intense just dropped this M279 HP6 update.  Looks amazing.

Nice! Embedded here.

Looks like a high pivot demo. Yeah looks sexy, and it's been quite a while since I thought that about an Intense! Also looks like it could be production ready.

Lots of good photos and info on their blog: https://intensecycles.com/blogs/news/searching-for-speed-intense-m279-h…

Don't know why it's geo-restricted, but choose your location here: https://linktr.ee/INTENSECYCLES

I've seen it, now it looks like a HP Demo on steroids. Worlds better than the current one, but still not a looker.

Called it.

The IG video is geo restricted. Could be some music in it?

Anywho, it's almost all CNC milled?? o.O
Sounds expensive.

The image that Marshall posted doesn't match the vid exactly. Chain stay and seat stay are welded tubes not milled. Just for you here's some screen grabs. No idea why it'd be geo restricted.
