Yes, he is underrated, he's a genius.

I'll chuck this in here:

Judging by the current success of the bike industry, all the new Dorado's are probably sold out, but...

I'm raffling off my custom Ruleman Race Tuned Dorado with up to 210mm travel. Win it for only £3!

You can check it out here: https://raffall.com/244971/enter-raffle-to-win-manitou-dorado-rrt-fork-…

I don’t think this it the right place to promote your raffles Paul… we’re here for the tech and the rumours, not the YouTube giveaways Wink

Looks like SRAM are working on a new Shockwiz-type suspension analysis device. They've figured out a way to package the system much smaller, so everything (battery, sensor, circuit boards, antenna, etc.) fits inside the top cap. It should be a nice looking package that'll be less susceptible to damage.

Great idea - hope to see something similar integrated into rear shocks too.

I don't mind it. That fork looks awesome... I'd love to own it for £3.
Its already been feautured in Paul's write up on his setup, so its a fair poke, if you've actually been follwing the tech on this site imo

Why would they not change the colours of the Megatower from the previous year? Have they ever kept the same colours two years in a row for other models?

New Megatower coming soon or am I reading too much into it? I know they like their three year product cycles but they updated the 5010 V3 after only two years so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

This is a more general rant, but why change colors every year at all? And update the spec. Wouldn't it be cheaper to order a 2 or even 3 year batch of frames in the same colorway and the spec components as well?

Would people actually care en masse the the shiny new bike isn't the shiny new color compared to last year? If yes, for the love of God, why?

What is this like with motorcycles? We know cars have a ~7 year cycle with a mid cycle facelift bringing refreshed styling and some new tech. I've already mentioned, why not lock specs and colors of a bike for 2 years, do a mid cycle refresh and then do an update of the frame after 4 years.

colors are easy to change even as a running change for production.

build specs (especially during covid times) are contingent upon what's being sold by the suppliers (shimano, sram, etc), which is planned quite a bit in advance (i've heard a year plus). the bulk of many component sales are driven by OEM, and the manufacturing qtys are largely driven by OEM demand.

The Hightower has had the longer stroke shock since last year.

Yeah, I know, but surely ordering twice the number of frames and components that you then sell in the two years the same bike is available would give you better prices? On the frame and on the components?

Plus it's an F U to the 'shinny new instagrammable stuff' crowd Smile

I also liked Jordi's comment regarding this in the latest Dialed Q&A, where he says bike stuff is still being sold on not how much better it is, but how much shinier it is.

The "soon" I heard on the Megatower was spring of next year, and it will be billed as a my23. That info came around when I first saw the mullet Bronson earlier this year.

Can somebody with some decent photoshop skills and some time on their hands please build a fake rumour and we will see if Pinkbike bites? I'd expect some sort of snarky comment like "it's pretty easy to type SRAMLLC into a search line" when they're caught...but it's like clockwork that something shows up here and then has a full story a day or two later.

Could it be so that PB people actually read the the same stuff as, people in this thread? Or have similar sources? Hmm. Maaaybe people in this thread aren't actually unique and the only folks with conacts? And some of the rumors are actually not very techy nor interesting at all. "new colors released" wow. Painters buy another color. Let's see some actual tech rumors. Dorado was really interesting. Why the hate for PB?

It's possible, but often dirtbag photos and a rumor get posted here and then end up in a "Rumor roundup" on PB a week or two later with the same photos like clock work. I've made fun of the timing often over the last few years.

This is the most beautiful reaction I've seen from any company in the years of snooping that's happened here or PB. Bravo Chromag

People copy pasted before it was taken down, seems it'll be 24", 26" bike. Could be a good sign for things to come from Chromag?
that's cool. late last year / early this year I was searching for a new (first) mtb for my 6 year old son (side note: wound up with a Giant STP 24 for him. yes, my 6 y/o is already on 24" wheels. he's a tall kid like I was) one thing that really stood out to me is that kids bikes jump from 24" straight to 27.5" for almost all brands (giant is the only one I remember). i still have a few 26" mtbs, and at this point I'm holding on to them for when my kid is large enough (also so I don't have to drop a few grand for him to have a f/s mtb).
