Well damn... This leaves me pretty much at 0/??? on my guesses this silly season... A lot of curve balls thrown out this year... Especially with Intense and the Athertons bringing in some big outside investors.. It will be interesting how things pan out over the next few years with some of these deals..
"Straight to the point. So today we're talking about the new Atherton Robot Racing Team?
Not really. Robot Bike Co does not exist anymore in this way. We finished the company last year. But we will carry on our knowledge and launch a new brand."
If you think about it, that is it for them moving teams now.
Only if the company fails will be see the Athertons on another brand. Otherwise if they do move and keep Atherton Bikes going, it shows they don't have confidence in their own product.
Interested to see how their business plan looks...becoming a profitable brand that can bank roll a team? Bike industry is a fickle one and the next global down turn *cough SOON cough* might make this a very risky move
HAHAHAHA Ahhhhh we are BUZZING over here at Atherton HQ to finally announce Atherton Bikes and see you guys reactions! We know you have alot of questions and want to see the full bike - coming soon i promise! Cheers - Rach.
I think this is an awesome move. I'm super curious to see how it goes with the new/niche manufacturing technique. I can't imagine these will be affordable bikes for the masses (not that they need to be). I mean to a certain point, I'd be willing to pay a premium for custom geometry.

So go on then, how often were you checking this thread and chuckling?
So Robot Bikes is no more, an interview with Ed Haythornthwaite:

Technically, if you get all the needed funding from other sponsors, you don't need to do the consumer part. Just sell the frames that are required by UCI (is there even a number? is 1 enough?) and job done.
This is what GT1 class in Le Mans was in essence. Balls to the walls designs of 'road going' cars, 'sold to the public' (in quantities of 1 in the case of Nissan and Toyota).
But anyway, boy did i not expect this in the slightest...

Will you need loads of pairs of Trickstuff brakes for the season then sell most of them on eBay?

Gee comented on IG that they will be making affordable bikes that they would be willing to buy themselves.
In the singletrack interview the Athertons won't show you the bike. Simply type in piers linney in YouTube and click on his video. And bang you see the bikes
Look on moonhead_media profile on IG. You can see more of their DH bike there. Tried to upload the photos but it keeps saying error.

So this is their bike brand until they retire.
