Trek Partners with SRAM/RockShox and 100% on World Cup DH Squad
[Waterloo, WI] — Trek Bicycle announced today the creation of the all-new Trek Factory Racing Downhill team. Like other programs under the Trek Factory Racing banner, the new team will be owned and operated by Trek.
Trek's downhill program will continue its partnership with components manufacturer SRAM/RockShox and will this year begin a new, multi-year partnership with 100%, which will provide the team with eyewear, clothing, and protection.
The roster will be announced in the coming weeks. It will include three elite riders and one junior rider who will focus on the UCI World Cup Downhill circuit and select regional and national races.
“Our passion for racing is driven by product development, and owning our teams has been a successful recipe for the brand," said Sports Marketing Director Tim Vanderjeugd.
Trek's direct ownership of its racing programs closes the loop between athletes and what they ride, giving engineers a direct line to the input they need to make the best products for all riders.
"With SRAM, RockShox, and 100%, we have the best partners imaginable to make this team a success," said Vanderjeugd. "These brands are industry leaders and are, like Trek, passionate and committed to innovation. We can’t wait for the racing to get going!”
The athletes will be equipped exclusively with 100%’s ultralight Aircraft Helmet (the winningest full-face helmet four years running), a brand-new line of DH-specific protective gear, and 100%’s category-defining optics. The final kit design will be released in February.
“We’re thrilled with the opportunity to partner with Trek Factory Racing Downhill,” said Mike Wilson, 100% Marketing Manager. “The team definitely shares our boundary-pushing competitive vision and everyday commitment to race-winning performances.”
Trek Factory Racing Downhill will compete on the 29er platform of the Session downhill bike. Team bikes will have Bontrager wheels and tires and SRAM and RockShox BoXXer parts.
“We couldn’t be happier with this new partnership," said SRAM MTB Sports Marketing Director John Dawson. "Trek understands the value racing has on making great products as much as we do. With amazing talent, support, and race-proven bikes and components, this program will blow minds this year."
Check out those grips on the Trek Factory release, it's definitely gotta be Gwin back with Trek!!!!! (extremely sarcastic)
Wow you truly are a dickhead, but thank you for being a dickhead, because now I'm done checking out the forum page. I appreciate it, now I"m not wasting my time with idiots like yourself!! lol

Can't say I am that surprised that Miranda is gone. She did some big things domestically but never did much on the WC, she had 1 top 10 this year and ended 14th overall out of a field of 30. And lets be honest, she won world champs on luck when every top rider crashed out and the UCI screwed up Myriam Nicole's timing.

I agree, but you can't take anything away from Miranda for the Worlds win. Lot's of world cups are won due to mechanicals and other crazy stuff. I think Specialized were right to take a chance with her. That win could have launched her into a successful 2018 season, but it wasn't to be.

Although last year wasn't the best (far from it and I am sure she will be the first one to admit that) she did well as a privateer before joining the 'factory' team. She was a real promise and back to good health I see no reason why she can't be podium material.
On a side note. It is a bit of a disgrace that a lot of factory teams are a sausage fest. Looking at the new Trek team: 4 blokes (in their defence, they have Katy Winton & Casey and ran Rachel for 3 years). Specialized: probably all blokes and so on. There aren't that many woman around as guys, I know. But there are quite a few who could do with some support they are not receiving atm. Remember 50% of people on this planet are female
My girlfriend specifically looks at which teams support women before buying a newbike. So she just bought a Remedy instead of a Stumpjumper as Spesh is doing a lousy job representing women for such a big company.

Sorry for the off-topic!
So she only checks DH support? No enduro or XC?
Back to topic please.
That’s some money spent on an actor just for a bike AD (unless it’s not Christopher Walken).
Not short enough to ever make it on TV also.
No wonder they didn’t want Gwin this year.

You’re correct that her results weren’t there but I think most see that she’s both battled injuries and has the ability to be at the top. If she gets the injury sorted I still think she’s a race or two away from having the race runs click and build on a good one. It’s a mental game to be able to push it top to bottom on the edge. She’ll get it
Wow Trek really pushed the boat out again for 2019 with an all Red bike!, they must have so much money that they can employ graphic designers and a marketing team to do absolutely nothing year in year out.
I better get back on track but how about Blinki and Joe Smith to YT ?
I think YT are going to go for An Enduro title next...
