Remember there are different kind of ebikes (https://electricbikereview.com/guides/electric-bike-classes/). You saw a type 2, with throttle. Those are forbidden too in trails here in Spain. Class 1 only assist on pedaling, if you don't pedal, there is no help and bike doesn't move. Those ones are accepted for the moment on trails in Spain.
That's great for all of you over in Europe... over here in the USA we have had a long history of land access issues and other user groups doing everything they can to ban MTBs. Adding a motor of any kind, even pedal assist, only adds complication. Hikers and equestrians will see them as motorcycles plain and simple. For us it would just be easier to not have them at all but we will see how this all unfolds...
There's more, a pedelec (e-bike) in Europe is limited to 250 W of assist and up to 25 kph, afte which it cuts off. If i read correctly, a Class 1 e-bike in the US is up to 750 W and up to 20 mph, which does explain all of the 'easy chip tuning' to 750 W in Europe.
If it was me, i'd limit it to 100 W continuous and say 150 W burst, for example based on a button press or a burst of power on the pedals (all systems have torque sensing anyway). The burst would be limited to dunno, 30 seconds every like 5 or 10 minutes? It should of course be limited by the motor (with the danger of it overheating), not the electronics.
Seems to win races just fine without a 29er. Wouldn't make sense to completely switch bikes just to please the internet.
Gwin has said he likes 29ers. His favorite bike when he rode for Specialized was the Enduro 29 and he seems to like the Jefsy a decent amount from this article Vital did. Sounds reasonable to me he would want a 29er DH bike.
It also works for YT as they are due to bring out a new Tues. Might as well follow the Capra and Jeffsy playbook by releasing both 27.5 and 29 inch versions.
Love the new look of the bikes...wish the team the best of luck this year.
The only thing that confuses me is why are they using the old Contact Switch Seatposts? Surely the newer one's were an option.
Go get 'em boys!!!
Just gonna leave this here.

More blackbox forks in the wild
More blackbox forks in the wild
Pom Pom was the first person to leak the new boxxer in December last year it didn’t stay up on her page for long as I’m pretty RS would of been on the phone straight away telling her to take it down
As i mentioned in the comments of the press release, where is the Emerald?
I think on the racing point of view, the weight might be a concern with the Emerald... If the Onyx achieve a similar performance damping wise (as you can put in the same cartridge as the Emerald) with, let's say, 500g (don't know exactly the weight difference between the 2) less than the Emerald, then I don't see the point for racers to use the latter.
But I agree it would make a killer bike with the Emerald on front!
This was also asked on Pinkbike and the DVO rep there said they are updating the Emerald, upgrading it with the same damping the Onyx has (apparently the Onyx has a newer damper) and dropping about half a pound off the weight.
With a new season about to kick off there's sure to be no shortage of strategically released prototypes and new parts out in the wild. Maybe it's time to start a seperate forum topic?
Bikeyoke Revive w/ toolless bleed?
New colors for Yeti. A return to turquoise and yellow
Judging from the axel the Gehrig's new fork is in fact a DT Swiss (?)
