When Amaury says, "I'm just a horse, I ride," in a post-race interview after gushing over the people at Commencal and how well they've designed and refined his Supreme DH bike, we know he's being humble about his skills on the alloy thoroughbred. With his win today in Fort William and that statement, he is, however, making a convincing point about the way his bike performs. Not only did Amaury's Supreme DH perform, but Thibaut Daprela won the Junior race today on a Supreme DH.
A year ago, Amaury won his first World Cup DH on an earlier version of this Supreme DH 29er, with that sexy high pivot and, at the time, a fairly crude adjustable idler pulley. This year, the bike is extremely more polished and refined with new adjustability. The frame is still aluminum, and the major component changes this year are the carbon ENVE wheels and bars. Amaury's untouchable time in Fort William today aboard the slender steed proves that Commencal's homework and hard work with bike design combined with the skill of the self-proclaimed French jockey is a match made in heaven. Drool on.

(This comparison isn't pure science, but the bike is level and the back wheels were sized the same with the rear axle being the anchor point).
