Atherton not racing all of them this year should relax Balanches resting not a graceful loser face a bit. Hope Atherton takes her time and does the full season when she is ready but it it hard to say she is not, judging the results from the outside. And the hot seat was stupid that high up from the finish line when riders like to tip their cap to the podium they shouldn’t have to look up two stories to do it
I think Rachel gets an easy 2nd or third going into leogang just putting in “safe” runs. And I don’t think anyone can beat a good run by cami there except maybe Rachel if she trains to her old shape. Most of the women struggle a lot with that track.
would be fun to watch Rachel try to win the overall and she is certainly capable of it but unsure if that’s an interest for her at this point.

When Eddie interviewed her on WynTV she said she was at Lenzerheide for UCI points so she can race the Worlds at Fort Bill. She said she didn't have the fitness to race Leogang and didn't want to run the risk of injury.
It'll be interesting to see how she does at the Worlds and whether she'll enter any more WC rounds.
so stoked she's racing leogang! words from atherton bikes about rachel racing leogang
Rachel Atherton will defend her Leader’s jersey at Leogang, 2023 Downhill World Cup Round 2
“The World’s fastest Mum” who took her 40th World Cup at Round 1 Lenzerheide will take to the track again next weekend at Leogang. Rachel admits that her victory hasn’t yet sunk in saying that the last 72 hours have been completely surreal. Initial plans were that she would spend a couple of days in Lenzerheide on a family holiday before returning home to Wales to focus on her fitness prior to August’s World Championships at Fort William this August but the temptation to race again proved too strong! Rachel acknowledges that she isn’t yet racing on top form and that two weekends back to back racing will be tough. She said “I don’t want to be stupid and take risks, racing back to back is hard enough when you’re fully fit and strong and I don’t want to get hurt, I have a baby to take care of.” But spending time with the Continental Atherton race team and on board the bike that she co-designed with her two brothers is proving too much fun to resist. I’m loving my time with the team, being a racer again, and riding the Atherton bike, showing the world just how great this bike rides and seeing my team-mates Andreas and Charlie doing so well–we talked about it all day Sunday, weighing up the pros and cons, trying to decide WHY I’m doing this. Part of me wants to stop now, no more racing, my last race a win, that was always the dream, but now I’m here I don’t want to stop...so it is decided.. I will go and race at Leogang and just see what happens. A small part of me wishes I didn’t win because I don’t want any more pressure, I don’t want people to expect me to win or to go well again, I just want to race and ride and be there!
Rachel’s 40th World Cup win means she is within one victory of equalling Anne Caro Chausson’s record for the most Downhill Wins ever...
Stoked Rachel has decided to race. I thought ACC had 40 wins in WCDH, which Rachel equalled on Saturday. I know she's won one more overall than ACC, but 5 World Champs compared to ACC's 9 in DH.
I've just had a look at ACC on Roots and Rain. I count 40 WCDH wins, 9 elite World Champs, 3 junior World Champs, 2 4X World Champs and 5 WC4X wins. I do acknowledge that I may have miscounted though.

RnR doesnt have any 95' races for her, and I forget that season, but I think the wins were mostly Stiefl, Giove and Sonier. Redbull website had the 55 wins number, so, maybe it is 40 DH wins.

Insane, regardless.
Totally, and why I wince a little every time Minnaar is referred to as the GOAT...

Good news! And some really interesting insight into 'healing' a concussion that I've never heard before.
This round's coverage of the Enduro World Cup has been nothing short of appalling, I didnt even realize the race was happening until I woke up this morning, the course preview videos and any social content doesn't exist (a total of 11 IG stories of race "coverage" today) or has been buried by the XC and DH content. on top of that the live timing crashed on stage 6 so any chance of following the final stage of the day in what seemed like quite the fight between Verner, Rude, and Rudeau was out the window. Not impressed with the first attempt at the "triple crown" format.
have heard rhys won as well. i asked a squid about enduro vs dh at same venue, and how they tried to cover it. response, "enduro spent the day away in another valley and returned at 630pm for the final stage when everyone had left." something about lift being closed for media during final stage, so they couldnt' really cover it and liaison from race start to stage 1 being 3 hours (lift ride then a big climb). i don't know if that kind of liaison is typical, but it sounds long.
xc, dh and enduro seems like a whole lot to cram into one venue

Remember the Telluride World Cup / 360 Adventure Race back in '02 or '03? That was one packed weekend.
I know this is a 2024 event but where did this come from? According to the press release this is an event for “downhill” bikes. Very curious to see the technical info on this such as bike requirements, license, etc. How would you even practice for this?

Must be a joke or some form of hoax. Utterly ridiculous. No way this is real.
b practice lenzerheide/leogang is up. we recorded a post-lenzherheide show only to have the podcast platform decide to not record anything but 2 hours of black video and flat audio. hence the delay and double-up w/ both lenzer and leogang
Luana is a multiple Romanian National Downhill and Enduro Champion and also holds a collection of medals in snowboard cross too. She rides since 2016, trains all by herself, tries to race as much as possible and she is one of the nicest people ever.
Her last name is Cherecheș and you pronounce it ”KEH-REH-CASH”, not ”churches”.
)))
Somehow the commentators had me hyped and invested without yelling into the mics. This stream worked really well for me, and oh man the racing was tight!
Watching Blenki just barely wash out in finals was nail-biting. The Women's race had so much drama! Amazing race
So Rachel wins almost her first entered WC in years.
Then in post race show, suggests she might not do many more due to being under prepared and just doing enough to get to world champs?
She mentioned only few months training, due to little one only starting to sleep through.
bummer

I thought ACC was in the 50's (wins?)....guess not.
Everything I can gather is 55 UCI world cup wins for ACC.
Not sure that is ever gonna be touched. Similar to Mcgrath Supercross wins.

DH wins? Maybe four cross wins in that 55? Just a thought, I have no idea, you'd know more me.

ACC also has 5 EWS wins.

Looks like this is getting them something to put into the winter olympics?
my time to become world champ is now
never seen snow before, but I could do what they did in cool runnings.

Cardi-E (Ed Masters) just put together a super interesting EDR race rig weigh-in: ENDURO WORLD CUP WEIGH IN - YouTube.
Sick to see that none of us should care about a few grams here and there.
