Based on the chart MSC provided, I had a 450lb spring on there to start (which I actually thought would be on the light side). It was way too stiff and I ended up running a 400lb spring (which they recommend for a rider weighing 160lbs). Considering my handle is ‘Gordo’ you can gather I’m heavier than that. Once the spring was dialed, I ran the shock with compression wide open most of the time and 3 clicks of rebound. The bike stuck to the ground like glue once suspension settings were sorted. All of 2008 I rode non-single pivot bikes, so it was a nice surprise to get on this and have a snappy, lively feel on the trail.
