Everyone focused on the Honda Gear Box of the RN-01, but to me there was a lot more to the bike than just the gear box. Every nut and bolt was accounted for, from what material it was made from to the torque setting. And then you had the all the carbon bits, which was not common at the time. Don't forget the suspension. Suspension was everything on the bike. To me it made the bike and we were on fully custom Showa forks and shocks. We worked a lot on the rolling speed of the bike. Because we had 2 chains on the bike, I felt it didn’t coast very well, there was just too much drag. I still think this is an amazing bike and what Honda brought to our sport changed the way we look at drivetrains. It also helped hype up the gear box craze, which when not done properly like Honda, wasn’t very successful. - Greg Minnaar
