From John at X-Fusion
"For 2012 we added CVS (Check Valve System) This does 2 huge things to the damping performance of this shock. $475.
1. It fully isolates the rebound adjustments from affecting the compression forces and vice versa. If you turn any of the compression knobs, rebound forces do not change. If you change any rebound knob, the compression forces don't change.
2. CVS manages the oil flow in the mid stroke. It provides a much smoother damping curve and prevents the shock from wallowing deeper in the travel. It's all about oil flow management because you can't let that oil get hyphy on you within the shock, ha. No joke though, that's when inefficiencies in performance show up. If the oil is allowed to just fly through the shock, unchecked, you get inconsistencies and inefficient damping."
