With a name like Magnum you know it's going to be big...

When Trek began working on their Stache 29+ project, they reached out to Manitou about making a fork for the new application. As a result this fork has been in the works for 18 months, and during that time Manitou has tweaked and tuned the design to work a little differently than a standard fork due to the different demands of a plus size tire.

The Magnum features a Dorado air spring, 34mm stanchions, clearance for up to 3.4-inch wide tires, 110xQR15 Hexlock axle, reverse arch, hollow crown, high/low-speed compression, as well as platform and hydraulic bottom out adjustments. It comes in 27.5+ (80-140mm travel) and 29+ sizes (80-120mm) with 48 and 51mm offsets, respectively.

It's specifically tuned for the increased un-sprung weight due to larger volume tires and wheels featured on plus sized bikes. The MC2 compression system provides both high/low-speed compression adjustments combined with the TPC+ rebound system.

Because big tires result in more muted input forces than a traditional 2.35-inch wide tire, Manitou designed the Magnum's adaptation of the Dorado air spring to move more easily.

The Incremental Volume Adjust system allows you to tune the ramp provided by the air spring as the fork goes through its travel. Just move the spacers up/down as needed.

Dual bottom out bumpers create more even loading when the fork is maxed out. The top out bumper was also adjusted to accommodate the increased unsprung weight of a plus size tire.

The Magnum Pro will be available for aftermarket purchase at $900. It's on shelves now. Be sure to catch the product intro video for a good laugh and an overview of the features.
