Discovery had a huge task in their hands, after the quality Redbull have put on the table, it's surely not easy. But they knew it, they knew what they had to do. But they're not close to Redbull level. The new rules also means more runs to casts, but the basic stuff is not even there. Drone follow up are a great idea, but the execution is poor. Putting twice as much cameras on track is great, but still, can't see a "full run".
And communication is non existant, appart from places like there, no communication for the fans out there. We'll see what the future holds, i hope Discovery will raise to the standards Redbull has set, for now, thats all we demand.

I watched Red Bull's YT video "Downhill Grande Finale | Winning Runs from Val di Sole" and it only took a few minutes to remind myself how thrilling it was, the way they conveyed the energy and suspense of each run (especially when a rider went "into the green") and provided so much in-race info that made each split something to anticipate.
Maybe Discovery will consider fans critiques and step things up. I can only hope so, but it's a short season and maybe they'll focus instead on how many viewers are saying "it's pretty good" and decide that any improvements or changes can wait until next season.

my $0.02.....
given discovery's broadcast experience and resources, combined with the literal *years* of RB broadcasts to benchmark against, coming out of the gate below the quality that RB had built to ***and charging for it*** is simply unacceptable.
dak and breeden's first run down leogang this morning (could you imagine riding the way dak does on your first run down. all tweaky and poppy and twisty lol)

This video brought me back to when I was still racing, and I remember following Dak in practice on multiple occasions and thinking, "I'm barely holding it together through these sections, and he just did the sickest table like it was nothing"
The track looks fast and fun. Going to be a tight race.

I mean, I can't imagine riding like this ever, period :-( so whether it's first run or millionth run ...
Another round, another amateur hour Production. The broadcast has no sound on the youtube feed. Switched over to GCN+ and the picture is zoomed in 20x.
Nevermind Redbull, OLN had better production back in the day than GCN+ does in 2023.
From the live timing, it looks like the track is way slower now. The lower woods looked alright for the sweeper's run, but the top and the stump section are probaby very slick
If you hype up your involvement (take-over) of the sport so much, with so much talk about taking it to ''the next level'' ''Professionalism'' etc. etc.. you put it on yourself to back it up.
Meanwhile a small weather delay has put the YT livestream in an annoying loop of Leogang Tourism Alpine Meadow Videoshots, without anyone commenting on the update to schedule or what's to come.
This is bad..

It's almost like they don't really care about the free stream...
Yup. Semis aren’t until Saturday
schedule is here
https://ucimtbworldseries.com/events/leogang
Sooo, according to Vali Holls IG Leogang WC will be live on Redbull TV (really strange!)
But I did search on RB TV website and the Womens DH, Short Track and XC are listed as livestreams but nothing for Men.

Also, Grice wasn't ready to go last week due to a training injury. It looks like he is ready now.

Juniors just kicked off on the livestream! Except the sound isn't working and the girls keep on coming down.
They say they're working on it.
Lots of ''meh'' moments so far regarding the broadcast this season.
Audio on youtube isn't working, but is working on gcn+, just fyi.
Edit: Not that missing the audio is actually missing much.
Junior womens finals in silence. Stuck on some drone shot of the hill for 5 mins. Total amateur hour.
edit. Sounds back. Just in time for the final 2 riders lol.
Erice just got absolutely bodied. Holy shit how did she get up from that slam!

That was a very scary crash
Racing is back on but no live stream on YT
