I see your point, they sure do look high, and that pic makes it hard to believe but but wasn’t it mentioned in the video that his bars are actually the same height as some of his DH colleagues running "normal" (old school) bars?

Here's a pic of Dak's bike with a normal set of bars last season on Intense. Just for funsies, let's say he's got a 40mm rise bar, an extra 10mm of spacers under the stem, an extra 10mm spacer under the top crown, and a head tube that's 10mm taller than his new Mondraker. That would be the same bar-to-ground height as his new Fort Bill setup with 80mm bars, but no one in the universe would look at this and call it "normal." You would do a double take if you saw this pile-of-spacers bike setup in the pits. Nothing about this is normal for the WC crew, unless maybe we're talking about Greg Minnaar, but his bike setup has been the talk of the pits for years for how unusual it is. The pile-of-spacers setup pictured below doesn't leave him any room to adjust up if he wants to, because everything is already maxed out. As I mentioned, I'd bet money that he went up in bar height from Fort Bill this year for Les Gets or Val di Sole. So while it's possible to get the same bar height out of a 40mm bar and an 80mm bar, each bar places a limit on the rider's freedom to adjust up or down.

DK in the video. ‘bout half way thru : “I put my bike next to Harry Molly’s GT and our bars are the same height. I just have a short head tube” so this high bar thing, it’s not just DK.
Nice pics of all his spacers etc by the way. Very informative.
