Curious about what Team Transition has been up to at Rampage? Here's a course walkthrough and first practice hits edit with Jaxson Riddle and Rampage first-timer Talus Turk (that backflip stepdown is MONSTRUOS):
Its criminal how little dudes are getting for hucking their meat off of stuff.
I know video games have a much larger reach then bikes, but Redbull hosts a few video game tournaments where the prize pool nears 1 mill for the winning team.
To contrast that to winning rampage or a WC race and getting some warm beer and a high five from your friends hurts my head.
Just use a free vpn like windscribe and change your location to canada. Don't have to pay espn. Judging is already jacked. No way tom van's run was 1st thus far.
"hoping brendan's early drop isn't a penalty on score"
Hoping the three before him get clean runs to set the score.
Wish they went reverse order...

Also its geo restricted this year? WTF is happening?
If you download Opera Browser, their "VPN" button in the top corner is pretty easy to use.
Cut it on and bam you're suddenly in a "different" country.
Just clear your cache that you used to access ESPN first.
Then open Opera, turn on VPN, pick a Euro country, usually Germany, watch.

Yeah, im hip to the vpn stuff. Been doing it for a while to watch worlds. Thanks though!
It just makes me laugh that every company that talks about growing the sport does an excellent job at making it more difficult to watch the content that they are trying to grow the sport with.
What is with the judging, 89 for Steenbergen? Semenuk scored an 84 for the cave man and well tricked run last year. drop or 2 more this time around but didn't seem to warrant that high of a score Zink a 95?
Bienvenido was robbed for pure amp and commitment along with Brednan for his creativity and balls. The slashing & that nose stoppie before the chute. Well!
So they marketed a freeride event and judged it like a slopestyle? #letrampagedie
Better yet, let's start over with a women's rampage as the primary 10-day build event to help close the experience gap and a 3-day build men's event to make sure they have to keep it raw
So...if they all messed up their hardest line, who dies instantly?
I say Brendog...twice. Lily pad. Dead.
Mega-Canyon...liquid. Dead.
Zink's huge backflip with the wind.
He landed just a foot away from the ditch. That would not have ended well.
Brendan and Godziek's lines also were playing with death. As was Bienve's two frontflips. Mad respect for this men, but it has become a little too much for me
I watched the replay and was keen with the fast forward, probably about 30-45min all in.
Brendog’s line was incredible, but unfortunately riders who doing have a bunch of flippy spinny stuff in the bag shouldn’t be out there risking their health.
I got psyched on this one because of Bren and Gee.
Darren Berrecloth weighs in on how he and the other judges came to the conclusions that they did, worth a listen if you're still feeling sore about the scores...:
I actually didn't hate the Judging much this year, I thought line choice and amplitude got a lot more points this year compared to others, hence Brendan scoring well, and the top 5 were the guys doing the biggest, fastest stuff. The slope guys that did big spins on smaller stuff all scored lower than they used to. Zink's lines were pretty sizable and that flip was way more huck and pray vs slope. I think if Alba hadn't stopped before the finish and tossed his helmet that first run he'd have been top 5.
I think we all understand the judging criteria and how the judges could consider Zink's run the best one. The confusion is more about the other podium spots which while great, didn't have the same level of exposure (compared to Brendog or even that big/memorable tricks (compared to Bienve).
The way I look at is that any highlight reel is going to have Zink's flip, the battleship, Brendog's canyon and Bienve backflip to mega front flip. Caveman was also amazing, but we did see it last year.
Anyway I say it every year, the only way to enjoy rampage is to ignore the judging, and the riders definitely put on the best show yet.
Really nice hearing the judges thought process and what gets emphasized.
suppose we all see it differently, can’t disagree bearclaw knows better than me. What I like is creativity in lines, which Bienve and Brendog had in spades. I loved how Bienve used the most of the mountain, as opposed to just high risk fall line down it.
I think if Rampage is going to be sustainable and not just a high risk huckfest that results in a riders death/permanent injury, creative use of the mountain should be prioritized.
Awesome for the claw to weigh in on this. I’ve had the opportunity to go to the event a handful of times, including this year. The sheer size and gnar factor does not come across through media. The filming is great, but so much is lost from a 3rd person view on a 2D screen. For example, Zinks upper line was super gnarly and technical. Def more technical than the battleship, but lower exposure (only slightly though). But you fall high up on zinks line it’s still game over. And the stepdown he flipped is absolutely ridiculous just to get to and simply hit the landing (never mind the flip). So IMO I think they got the winner right. Not sure about 2,3,4,5 but zink won the comp. I maybe would have brendog 2 or 3 and then bienve or storch round out the podium.
bottom line it was an incredible show. Massive props to all the riders. Honestly this was the best rampage to date for me, just so much great riding from all the competitors.

It was geo-restricted last year too, ESPN bought the US rights.
Hoping the riders get some of that ESPN money

Sooo, #bienvenidoGotRobbed or nah?

standard Rampage scenes.
Hope Godziek heals up well.
Godziek's crash was so gnarly, hope he's all good.
Zink's giant backflip was on the borderline of suicide
Brendog gets robbed again, nothing new there.

Any updates on Szymon Godziek?
This is the only thing I've seen:
Does Sorge win the Shorts bounty?
The other site said he dislocated his wrist; pretty wild (and much relief) if that's the only injury he suffered!
He knocked himself cold. He was out for 2 minutes.
Best wishes to all the riders who got dinged.

Lessons learned from Rampage 2023.
Not one rider in the top ten sold a bike frame this week or month or year.
Pinkbike is a bunch of Kooks and Brian Park is a joke.
Red Bull is still a crappy energy drink that you mix with vodka when you are 18 but thanks for spending your billions on events.
Cam Zink's backflip was so epic.
Prove me wrong.

Only thing I wish he touched upon there is a bit of the judges are listening and talking about any critique.
I didn't think the judging wasn't TOO far off.
I had it Cam, TVS/Brendog toss up, then Carson and Bienve a little higher up.
