Re Brosnan: I don't know his situation, but here is my hypothesis.
He's newly married, has a hobby farm with horses and cool shit and it's Summer Holidays here in Aus (Everyone stops working for a month lol) It's 35 degrees every day, the suns out, the beach is ready and the beers are cold!
Last thing I'd want to do now is head on a 24 hour flight back to Europe on the covid tin can, shiver my balls off in some French ski village away from your loved ones when he could be eating Prawns and smashing beers on the back deck!
It's bikes, he's good at it. Hop back on the DH bike closer to the season.

Seems like Minnar was on a similar plan for years. Worked for him.

I am not getting this hate, especially from us, who are obviously outside the racing field. It is impossible to judge what a good bike is and what not and especially what a good bike COULD be. How could we, with pretty much no inside knowledge, know that? Just by sheer assumption? Assumptions without solid information are most of the times logical errors. Having success takes a whole lot of ingredients, especially in something like DH racing. I guess sometimes being in the zone and fully motivated could mean more than having a ”good” bike, whatever that may be. Related to Mondraker, I think I saw that positive energy in Jacob Dickson, who was obviously pumped on riding, after being out at the beginning of the season. In order to be fair, we would need the opinion of the riders on the team and it's very little likely to get that, as most of them are diplomatic and try to keep good connections in the industry. And even then it's a question of what the measuring stick is. It's not like everybody has ridden all the bikes on the circuit and know how they ride with their specific tune to them. So there are a lot of variables and saying ”X bike is good and Y bike is bad, because of results” is skin deep, with all due respect.

Agree, I don't think bikes play that big of a role. I mean, frames are not rocket science and, in general, geometries are pretty similar all across the World Cup. In fact, I would go as far as to say that, if frames were covered during tests, 99% of reviewers wouldn't be able to tell brands apart.
Mondraker haven't scored that much cuz their riders aren't Top 10, as simple as that.
so frames are not rocket science because it is only about geometry- is that about right? What about kinematics or how components work with the frame such as suspension.
I'm looking at his resume on Roots right nowHis peak seems to happened in 2019, with three straight top 10. Between 2021 and 2022, when he goes to Mondraker I don't see much of a change, he's hoovering between 10/20 as per usual. 2023 is a different story since he had a very complicated spinal surgery at the start of the season.

It's still not rocket science, no matter how much we love to think it is- and I need about them as much as anyone else. Save for extreme choices like Unno most frames are pretty similar in geometry, and most of the are prototypes anyway with a wide range of adjustment. You could go to a different team and still have the same bike as last year, geometry wise...
Could Brook jump a few spots on the board with a different bike? Maybe, but he's no making podiums, no matter the bike, be it a V10 or a Demo

Ha! No two bikes are the same, even if both have similar geometry. Yeah, it may not be literal rocket science, but there is definitely a lot of science (engineering) that goes into developing a bike. In the PB podcast Brook said he felt great on the bike but the limits of the bike were not competitive with other bikes in the DH WC races. He continues, he felt super sketchy when surpassing the limits of the bike in trying to keep up with other racers. That says a lot! If Brook gets into a new frame that he feels comfortable pushing the limits on, he will start being a consistent name in the finals. Hopefully, he gets what he needs to perform in 2024 regardless if its Mondraker or not.
Also everybody: "Rider X's results sucked when they were on brand X because that bike sucked"
Back to team rumors: A particular 2023 Spanish team rider discussed in recent posts, may be spending a lot more time in the land of freedumb. Specifically, in an area (regionally) known for it's extra large heaping portion of freedumb (which was still not enough for a certain rider because other states have way morerer freedumb).
I’m surprised to see a guy leave a team of his own accord - which is how Ronan has presented this. The upside is that there are still teams making strong offers to riders out there apparently.
One team flying under the radar with an open spot(s) is Rockshox - Trek. With Vali going to YT it’s either find a rider or two or fold the team. Can’t see them carrying on with just Tegan Cruz. Could see them going for Dak if he was leaving Intense. Plan B Ollie Davis and Ethan Craik?

Doubt we'll see any big name brought into that SRAM/Trek team unless Trek kicks in more money. ... The SRAM/Rockshox money will follow Vali to YT and the extra (if any) will probably go to Minnaar on Norco.

Well then the team will fold. It’s SRAM’s program so if they leave there isn’t much of a team left.

Aaron Gwins program will be on specialized or a French frame moving forward.....
There's not much big MTB french brand nowadays. In fact, there's only Lapierre and they don't make a DH frame and won't be for quite some time. Maybe you're refering of Commencal...which is an andorran brand

So ya don't have to click...
I have an incredibly bipolar, delusional & maliciously unreliable quasi-source:

This is rumors, noone likes solid sources

Thetruth has spoken

Ronan was on Conti/Nukeproof so the team could continue with a different bike sponsor. Sam Hill was Nukeproof Factory so would be more effected.
We've all knew it was coming, Jess Blewitt has also posted official goodbye to GTFR

Troy giving some solid hints that this is the last year on Canyon and he is moving on.
