He is a first-year Junior.. Apparently, there are also a bunch of Kiwis and french prodigies starting World Cup as well (some fast girls too)..It sounds like a new generation is coming. Maybe Juniors will save DH from the Warner Bros dark fate ;-)
Asa running non-sponsor correct High Roller 2 out back on his race rig. Assume that's for the super pedally Bootleg course. Conty has the Xynotal which would be perfect for more rolling speed and rock... but I'm going to guess Frameworks only ordered (could get?) Kryptotal Front/Rears and Argotals for the season. So he had to go HR2.

Team order probably hasn't even been loaded on a ship at this point.

Bootleg used to be a STACKED field this time of year just to get in a race.
"used to" ....... just like you
Butch, I don't post much, but I'm pretty sure, your exact words were, "I'll stop posting". Didn't last a hot minute.
Do us all a favor , we've all been someone, we all know someone. Give it up and sell ur insurance.
SpomeDawg. You need new content? Post/Pull a thumbs up vs thumbs down progress report. Facts don't lie. Guarantee he's later then his mammoth start gate.

Just watched some 2024 helmet cam and the start was still at the top and the finish still way down in the flats at the bottom... Is racing that much faster or is there a big change in the course that I'm not seeing?

There are a number of different tracks that they use and within those tracks there are variations. I wouldn’t read much into times from past years.

Agreed. WBD still need to do one with the semi final bulls**t, but it's definitely an improvement none the less. Now if they could confirm we'll have commentators who don't talk bollocks and bore us to death that would be great...

While better for the Elites for sure & focuses on a "finals" day, which is a totally good outcome. This means the Jnrs get back to the ultra early morning starts, wet dewy morning conditions. A shitty schedule and timeline for them trying to make it in the sport.
There is no best outcome here, but will be interesting to see how it is delivered. It may be totally good. We don't know till we try.

This is also true. Lourdes in 2022 was apparently horrible for the junior practice with very little praccy time courtesy of the slowed down uplift and queuegate, and with the sun on the wrong side of the hill the dewy conditions made it super treacherous.
But isn't that what WBD are trying to do, make it as s**t as possible for privateers and juniors to break into the sport and give it a future.

Agreed, I think its cool the Jrs and Elites are on the same day, but the tracks in the am can be horrible for practice and race with the dew and and can suck at times for the jrs.

so juniors raced in the early morning for 6 to 8 seasons or something and then WBDsports/ESO moved it to the day before, giving the juniors better conditions. Now they are moving junior racing back to "race day" at the request of the teams and somehow it's still a big WDBsports conspiracy to tank the sport?
I remember hearing on a podcast somewhere that maybe they should shake up the order of racing a bit. Ie: flip the women’s and men’s start times. Why not also flip the juniors a bit? Give them some drier dirt and have the men’s go down first thing in the morning? Issue is could see with that would be how badly eaten up the track would be for the juniors.

I think the issue is however you schedule it, someone will be claiming they get worse conditions than others. Last year Bruni was moaning that he has to ride a deteriorated track compared to others as he's usually one of the/the last rider/s down (despite it undoubtedly working in his favour at a couple of rounds).

Maybe once or twice, but by and large, coming down at 2pm after the fastest of the fast have all had a race run gives you the best track of all and there is one distinct and relatively clean race line.
Even in it's infancy of DH racing, when we had organizers who would just let you start in any order, the smart guys would hide until the end so the mountain would burn off the nights cloud cover and moisture pull out of the soil by the fauna, especially in the long exposed sections of slope.
Sure...racing in the morning for Juniors is less ideal. But your peers are going off at the same time, so it's a more level playing field than being 60th through 30th pro vs top 5 2 hours later. World Cup pros try to qualify high not because of points or bragging rights...but because it's the best time of day to race.
that's bonkers if there's no option. here are current subscription offerings for max in USA (which seems to include the B/R thing) as a non-subscriber.

Haha YouTuber slumming it by hosting the industry string-puller’s “ackshuallyyyy” blogpost says something too. Not sure what it is but it’s something!
Wild world.
Aaron Lutze isn’t just a YouTuber but all good in the echo chamber if you don’t care to learn anything. But for those that do he ‘has over two decades of experience working with companies, athletes, and events - most notably with Red Bull for twelve years as an Athlete Marketing Manager and as one of the original producers from Freecaster, the company that brought the first World Cup livestream to the public in the mid-2000s.’ So he might offer a good perspective on racing and a lot of the discussions that have permeated this long forum post and discussion. But with all the echoes in here I don’t know if many people can hear or see the point in listening or learning more. I thought Aaron did an excellent job offering insight and an informed perspective from a side of the industry and racing most people have never seen or been privy to.
In closing and what I have been trying to say this whole time is this: if one company stood up in a leadership role or multiple companies came together and offered the riding public racing again for free like we had with Red Bull I think it would be a huge win for our industry. Those companies. Racing and progression. But for something like this to happen it takes real leadership and passion. Red Bull was doing that for us until the UCI decided to go a different direction and it was very counterproductive for our sport.

To clarify: I'm saying the thing has Berm Peak in the address, SethBikeHacks thing...which surprised me, as I know Lutze as a guy behind scenes at Rampage etc. It's wild that this is probably the way to get the most eyes on it.

Ya gotta keep up on those Inside Line podcasts, Stik! Asa is racing all JR WC's this season with Neko and Angel.
Definitely seems like a very solid young man from what I hear from other racers in the area.
Plus, he's from Durango, and Durango is almost in New Mexico which means we can claim him as a local, right?

You sound miffed. Good luck with that bitterness.
Event schedule released for Fort William World Cup. Quali and Semi's on the Saturday and Finals back to having a day on its own.

2021 Aaron - 2nd - 4:14.24
2020 Aaron - 3rd - 4:25.49
2019 Aaron - 1st - 3:57.83

So a three-stage, two-day enduro...but on the same track?
instead of cramming two timed runs on one day they're cramming two timed runs on a different day!

It looks like a new US downhill series will be announcing their schedule soon and they have an August stop at the coolest DH track around, China Peak.
