Yeah- you would think they would either use the same front triangle or rear end to keep costs down. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I very much doubt it will be anything more than that.
Probably just a short-strokes version of the dh-sled with 170ish mm of travel.
I was thinkin more of a 160 version of the Druid (the rearward axle path makes it "feel" like more travel), seeing as how it needs to be pedalled a bit. Given the weight of the Druid, and its capability under Rhys Verner this makes sense to me.
The weight of the Druid is in the 34-35lb range as a trail bike, so I feel like its already there in terms of strength. There wouldnt be much need to make the Dreadnaught DC compatible, as theres little need for it on the EWS circuit.
I'm trying to think of a competitive enduro race bike that comes from the DH side, rather than a longer travel, beefed up trail bike.
i see that the new dreadnought post got removed, that's not fair
There's no NDAs here and its a rumor forum. Companies like Apple, NVIDIA, and Tesla have leaks for products that have millions invested into them and they stay posted online.....but a bicycle gets pulled down. Strange times...

Happens all the time actually. How long have you been watching? It’s nothing new because the bike industry is a lot smaller than those companies, and most brands have to sell out of their old stock before the new one comes out.
This industry is driven by advancement. If somebody has the idea that a newer better version of a bike or product is coming out, they are less likely to buy the current version. Even if said company is blowing them out for super cheap. Specialized is sitting on a ton of older stock because of this. They’ve had a new version of the Enduro on deck for a while now, but haven’t released anything because of it.

Either way it'll be a cool bike!
The Druid is now 150mm, right? Too much overlap with the current Dreadnought with 154mm. So it would be understandable for them to go with 170ish mm for the new one - most companies have went 165+ travel with their enduro offerings already, some of them high-pivots as well. Back some time ago the Dreadnought was raced as a double-crown bike with a custom link giving it 180ish mm of rear travel - may be the new one could be stock like this!
My bad, you’re right - still 130mm. Got confused because of the 150mm fork. But i still think the new Dreadnought should be 170mm. :)
Rumor...

Rumor on topic again- anyone heard something new about the new Norcos? Some time passed since the last talks about them…
I'd put money they just move the Dreadnought to 160 rear, I think their race team has preferred bikes with a touch less travel. Also, with their HP+I, the actual axle path of a 160 would pair well with a 170 up front.

Their website says new optic and sight in feb. So should see em pretty soon. Looks like both of them will be a Horst bro pivot. I wonder how much lighter they will be than the forbidden bikes, a lot less material going on with the back end. The norcos now aren’t featherweights but the forbidden bikes look downright obese.

Eh its not that odd. I remember when the picture of completed AXS Transmission in a box was leaked a month or 2 before release date, the original poster mentioned we was contacted very fast by the legal teams hired by Sram. I assume for a company like Sram, their warnings are not to be taken lightly.

Friend of mine did a parking lot ride on the new Optic. Size medium (they are using S3 for the size title) GX build tipped the scale at 34 pounds. Definitely not light…

I mean, depends really on tires and if they installed inserts. The highest spec Devinci Troy with double down is 33.77lb (15.32kg for non freedom unit lovers). That bike has XT and ARC30 wheels. In my opinion if it has heavy duty tires and decent build, 34 is not that unreasonable.

Competitor for the Druid,
Norcos have never been light, well, there was a bit of a shift in the 2010ish era, but they just kept breaking

I don’t disagree. Not sure of the tire spec or anything else.
I’m kind of old-school. 34 pounds for what is essentially a 125mm bike is a tad hefty in my book. Especially for a medium. If it has double down tires and inserts, then yeah. Weight is spot on.

Druid, 130 bike, but "feels" like more due to the HP, and axle path. As does the original Dreadnaught, 158, but "felt" like more.
The V1 Dreadnaught was a weapon, but likely leaned a little too much towards the DH side, which lead to a heavy bike, that dodnt pedal great, but was excellent at eating bumps. I'd expect the new dreadnought to fill the spot between the DH bike, and Druid as a rough terrain enduro bike

We’re getting into weight weenie rumors here, but idk man, I don’t really feel like a 34lb 130mm trail bike is really acceptable. I have a c3 optic with double down rear tire and it’s like 31 lbs and it seems more than capable/sturdy enough. My old process 153 with double down tires was 30lbs.
bikes have gotten a lot better since 2016 but definitely gotten way more chonky.
I don’t disagree. Not sure of the tire spec or anything else.

Ah, actually yeah for 125mm I would not be okay with 34lb unless it had some tricks in its hat. Sorry, I honestly do not know Norcos lineup that well. Thought this was their all mountain bike.

Optic is typically 125/140, and the Sight is 150/160. Trail and all-mountain…
Historically, their weights haven’t been too far off from each other. Frame weight especially. I can’t speak to the new models though. I’ve seen pictures only.

By insiders I mean people I know personally.
I’ve been told there is a new stumpy a few months away, but those same people are unaware of any new Enduro coming.
Have you heard specifically there is a new Enduro ready to drop but they are holding off to wait for old stock to die down?
They did this with the Levo, and had stock sitting in warehouses for months before releasing it, but it was hardly a secret.

Mavens use mineral oil and 18/19.5mm pistons
Those sound an awful lot like facts. Please stick to rumors around here. Though I suppose the innovation loophole might allow it...

Hows that for rumours
