I'll be honest, 15% is pretty low. Not V1 Sentinel low but getting there. Definitely down in the "huh" range. My brother runs a shop in Eureka and this is definitely true there. A significant portion of the community relies on bikes for commuting and when money is tight people ditch their cars first.

our house is carved into the hill, with the car park 4 stories below. only accessible by a car lift, one spot costs 250 chf/month. i bike to work and use the swiss train network for everything else, and my transportation costs are still lower than that...

I worked on advocacy for the 15 minute city concept, and can tell you that literally no one has actually proposed restricting travel. That idea is a "bUt OuR fReEdUmB" talking point aimed at people who do their own "research".

I'm at point where I want my car when I need it, but with the expenses that come with it, I would like to use it less often..

I believe that the idea behind 15 minute cities wasn't to restrict travel, but to lay out cities where you don't need to travel more than 15 minutes to get what you need. But, in most American cities, a 15 minute drive takes at least 30 minutes and a 15 minute walk is considered to be inhumane.

Kubota is pretty involved in trail building like you said, even "sponsoring" trail building companies themselves. As a company that does a lot of business with regular dudes who own tractors they obviously think there will be some crossover sales from the sponsorships which is cool and I'm sure they want pro trail builders to continue using their equipment as well. Isn't Gwin or all of frameworks also sponsored by Kubota? And Windrock and Rock Creek? Locally in Michigan I think they sponsor the Copper Harbor Trail Club and the Noqumenon trail system. Pretty cool for a tractor company.

Brage gets (presumably) relatively big money, we get content. Brage x Brandon x Kade x Emil edit would be monumental, as are most things from those riders individually.

fwiw, last year was the first year we ever had to pay to get lawlor his creds at a world cup. $3k for the races we attended. it's not a budget killer for us, but $3k goes along way on other projects for us.

So stupid of them. I'd think team media do much more for engagement and to build compelling stories around riders than cannibalizing subscribing viewers.
