Maribor has hosted World Cup DH, World Cup ski racing, and Europa Cup ski racing (which is the feeder series to the world cup). I don't think the venue has an issue holding expensive events. I would guess this is specific to the iXS cup, and that the venue isn't forecasting a good return on this particular event. In short the UCI could do more to prop up their feeder series, especially if their long term plan is smaller World Cups.

Sounds like the city government / tourism board pulled the funding for the event so the race organiser wasn't going to make ends meet. Hence the cancelation.

I was there last weekend...they don't have enough tourists during week days. Gondola operates from 10am to 7pm but between 10am - 2pm they do only one run per our. After 2pm they do continuous runs. The trails are really nice, the red trail that starts from the top needs some serious work but the rest of them are in good conditions. Also the other cable car that was opened this year operates only on Saturday - Sunday. There are two new trails. Maribor has potential but they need more advertising and maybe some new trails or a way to connect the gondola with the new cable car. The distance between these 2 locations is about 6km. Anyway... Slovenia rocks!!!

USA Cycling Unveils Paris 2024 Olympic Kits

The Olympic Kit from CUORE Unites All Five USA Cycling Olympic Disciplines

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – June 26, 2024 – This summer, the best cyclists in the world will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and USA Cycling’s Performance Apparel Partner, CUORE of Switzerland, will outfit the USA Cycling athletes.

USA Cycling is proud to debut the new Olympic team kit for the upcoming Paris Olympics. This year, the team will come together with the same kit design across all disciplines, uniting American cycling on the world's largest stage.

"The unveiling of the kit marks a significant milestone in the team's journey as they come together to represent the United States at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games," said Jim Miller, Chief of Sports Performance at USA Cycling.

Collaboratively designed by USA Cycling and CUORE, the new kit incorporates the iconic white that debuted at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Designed with both innovation and performance in mind, the kit enables athletes to push their limits without compromising on comfort and optimizes cooling for the hot European summers. The custom detailing includes stars on the sides symbolizing the five disciplines that will be competing in the Olympics - Road, Mountain Bike, Track, BMX Racing, and BMX Freestyle.

With all the athletes wearing the same design in their unique gear, it brings together the new modern era of Olympic sports like BMX Racing, which debuted at Beijing 2008, and BMX Freestyle, introduced at Tokyo 2020, while still honoring its legacy with events such as Road, which have been included in the Olympic programming since the first modern Olympic Games at Athens 1896.

“CUORE of Switzerland is honored to support USA Cycling at every level of competition. The Paris kits represent our team's dedication and commitment to excellence over the past few years,” stated Alex Diaz of CUORE of Switzerland. “The needs of the athletes are at the heart of every product decision we make. Collaborating closely with USA Cycling, we have developed products that deliver exceptional performance while prioritizing athlete comfort, empowering them to achieve their best results.”

CUORE of Switzerland has developed cutting-edge apparel designed to elevate the USA Cycling Olympic team. Utilizing advanced fabrics and design, the new Gold Speed Suit has been tested in the world’s best wind tunnel to achieve optimal performance. In a sport where victories are often decided by mere fractions of a second, CUORE's state-of-the-art gear provides the USA Cycling team with a crucial competitive edge.

Man, state of the sport.  I just took a look at the top ~100 riders from todays EDR.. and like easily half of the field is unsupported.  I really liked enduro.  Loved when they were traveling to new cool places.  Loved that we at least had some decent coverage.  Its a shame.  I feel like the only reason E-EDR is even remotely watched is its adjacent to EDR.  Once EDR fully goes away the E-Version is sure to follow.

I watched the EWS replay videos because I got to see a ton of a course and there was a LOT of variation in how riders attacked sections over a long period of time in these villages and backwoods.
Mopeds aren't going to have the diversity of movement & skill associated to visually stimulate me.

My tinfoil hat thought is that ESO are using EDR/E-EDR as their gravity discipline catered to the European market and DH as the gravity discipline catered to the whole world. EDR/E-EDR seems to be Europe only for the foreseeable future with the rumors of its support shrinking. I’ve also heard that most new mountain bikes being sold in Europe are E bikes which aligns with the rumors of them phasing out EDR for E-EDR. Again purely tinfoil hat thoughts but it doesn’t feel far fetched to me.
