Some additional info via athertonracing.co.uk:

"Dan will ride a very early stage prototype bike using 650B wheels.

Dan is very comfortable on 650B wheels and so is working with GT’s engineers to develop a race bike adapted to Enduro’s specific requirements, as a team we relish in making these bikes as fast as possible and we’re lucky to have the ability to do this with GT away from any restrictions.

Enduro racers need a bike that allows them to be fast on any kind of terrain, as efficient uphill as it is downhill. This is a different approach to a All Mountain bike as there is an added racing factor to be considered, the bike needs to be fast….. simple. The World Series and key races like Metabief will take Dan on to many different terrains, perfect for the kind of direct feedback needed to perfect the bike’s design.

This bike may evolve considerably before GT even decide to take it to the market, its a R&D project with no set timeline at present."

Unless he's an amputee, I guess not only a chain device needs to be fitted, but a left crank arm as well.

Will be interesting to see the production version. Knowing GT, it'll probably be full carbon as the rear triangle is already in place in carbon on both this and the DH-bike.

Looks like the parking lot posers are giving this an aesthetics thumbs down...

...probably looks better when it leaves riders in the dust.

Can anyone shed some light on the high/forward main pivot and the suspension reaction to that placement?

Proto's are always gonna be AL,,too expensive to keep making molds for carbon ones...I bet its fast and smooth looking at the wheelbase and those 27's on it !

I was expecting to be blown away but this a big let down. I agree on the geo looking bizar/steep ha and lack of chainguide, for racing looololo big mistake. Not sure where gt going with this thing but Dan will be fast on any bike. Get him the right bike and could be champ.

Is it just me or does that dropper look like it may be a long travel version? I know that at 6' 4" on an extra large frame I still have to adjust my dropper with my qr from time to time. That would be pretty amazing!

Hopefully they're just testing the geo and layout in alloy - and they've got a carbon model on the drawing board. Looks naked without a chainguide - wonder if they'll go e13 or Shimano.

Def ugly, so many great looking and performing bikes out theyre now, SB66, Mojo HD, Evil Uprising, Spicy, Zesty, to name a few GT need a total rethink, like Turners just just aging badly!

That rod connecting lower and top tube looks so 95ish, maybe MTB is making old looking new again? Still agree that it is not pretty.

I'm guessing that as with the proto DH frames they're riding at the moment - any production version would be full carbon. The front end looks pretty basic for the purposes of testing geometry etc

I'm pleased to see them making use of the Atherton's talent/steeze/experience/intuition to develop the frames. GT were one of my first loves ('97 Zaskar) but none of the i-Drives have ever really done it for me - these are moving in the right direction. Looks long, too.
