Mavic just posted this insane bike full of carbon fairing and manipulation built for Eric Barone's world speed record attempt this Sunday. Here's the official word from Mavic:

The day has arrived! On Sunday morning between 7-9am (GMT +1), Eric Barone will attempt to break the downhill mountain bike speed record, on a highly customized MTB. Mavic provided technical help, so we’re all watching to see the result… Mavic fans, please join us to wish Eric the best of luck!

He should hit the slopestyle corse on that thing to warm up the suspension. Thats a good point where are the 29errrrr wheels? I guess the scientists at mavic dont agree with large diameter bike wagon wheel enthusiasts. Good bearings make you go faster.

That's not a DH bike. I've seen one or two DH bikes in my day and they don't look like that. Should count. Disc wheel? Come one! And when did Santa turn into a winged astronaut?

I guess safety takes the back seat over aerodynamics. That helmet reminds me a clear salad bowl strapped to one of those styrofoam lids from back in the 80's.

Wheres the spec list for that rig haahaa??? Looks like Mavic found Dorothey's famous red slippers. Click them in three times and sing a kansas song or something. Good luck, what is the current speed record. Wheres Gwin for this one, wuss bag!

Looks like he has the suspension lowered quite a bit. Check that BB height. Hope it's a nice smooth track!

Looks crazy cool - so fast sitting still that it is stretching out the space suit!

That said, first thing that came to mind was that doomed fellow that rode down the volcano in Japan.
